RS Feva World Championships

Just a few days until the start of this year’s RS Feva World Championships, this year being held in Marina di Grossetto, Tuscany, Italy. Max & Guy will be heading south early Friday morning, with a long drive ahead (for Paul & Nikki… the boys are not driving!) After registration and practice, the competition starts with two days of qualifying rounds, followed by three days of finals, sailed in Gold Silver and Bronze fleets. With a total entry of 180 boats, each fleet will be made up of 60 boats. After coming 23rd last year, after a frustratingly light wind week at HISC, Max & Guy are hoping for breezier conditions in Italy. They are both very grateful for all the support from Tudor, and are really hoping to do the club proud.

You can follow the racing via: http://rsfevaworlds.org/ or https://www.facebook.com/RSFevaWorlds or https://twitter.com/RSFevaWorlds (@RSFevaWorlds and using hashtag #RSFevaWorlds)

RNSA (Portsmouth) Summer Update

This quarterly period has seen a busy and successful stream of events at the start of the season. What is more there is a cracking programme of events scheduled for the (hopefully) warm summer ahead - so please get involved! In early April the Cruisers kicked off the programme with their Spring Rally at Southsea Marina, which despite the less-than-ideal conditions was well attended for a pontoon party and curry.

RNSA Burgee flies at the Horn of Upernivik

While the UK basks in heat RNSA member Clive Woodman, together with sailing partner Angela Lilienthal and their yacht Cosmic Dancer, have been supporting an ambitious climbing expedition to the remote Horn of Upernivik. Located at 71 N 52 W , high in the Arctic off the NW coast of Greenland, the Ho The expedition started 2 and a half months ago with the following report just in by SATPHONE: "We did it! 74 days and 4,421 nautical miles after first setting out from Chicago we successfully achieved our first objective - landing the climbing team ashore at the Horn of Upernivik.

Tidal Diamond 333 – This weekend, Compound storage & cleanliness

Tidal Diamond No. 333

Chichester Marina this weekend

If anyone is thinking of sailing to Chichester Marina this weekend, Bob and Sandra are taking Celtic lady there and have booked a large table in Chichester Yacht Club where any members would be most welcome to join them for dinner on Saturday evening.

Compound Storage and cleanliness

  1. Recently there has been a large amount of rubbish accumulating in the compound. It is not fair to expect other members to clear away rubbish that is left by those who are too lazy to dispose of their own rubbish.
  2. There has been an increasing number of Dinghies being moved from allocated spaces into other members spaces. A lot of effort goes into the organisation of the compound. It is not a free for all! Please also be reminded that when changing ownership of a cruiser or dinghy, you must first complete the appropriate forms and request to the Bosun. There has been a number of instances recently where members are changing dinghies without first adhering to the club procedures/byelaws.

Offshore Series

Inaugural RNSA(P) Offshore Series scuppered by high winds...and low ones. Sadly, the first RNSA(P) Offshore Series has not gone exactly as planned. The initial race, NAB Tower, was cancelled due very high winds in the Solent and eastern approaches. The second race, "Wight by Night", was scrubbed following a lack of willing participants (broken boats and crew).
