Tidal Diamond 388 – Volunteer, Family Fun Day, Cruiser Update

Tidal Diamond No. 388

New Galley Hob : Fitting Volunteer Required

We have purchased a new induction hob for the galley. Are you able to volunteer to install it? It will need the old hob removing and the existing work top cut for the new hob. It will also need the electrical connections made so you will need to be qualified to complete this and to certificate the install.

If you can assist it would be most appreciated.

Family Fun Day – June 14th starting at 11:00

Please note that the date of the family fun day in the social section of the printed calendar is WRONG. Please correct your paper calendar. In the sailing section it is correctly shown as 14 June as previously advised in a tidal diamond.

Please mark your calendars for this event. Its our chance to have some fun on and off the water and perhaps to bring along some friends to show the club off to.

There will be BBQ and fun and games both on and off the water, exact events will depend on the weather but could include sailing races, kayaks, duck hunts (of course), build a boat….and more.

Steve and I are also on the look out for helpers for the event, maybe to run some of the games etc.

Cheers,

Rob Nicholson
Cadet Captain

Cruiser Update May 2014

The season started with great conditions for the Gould Trophy race to Lymington & back over the May bank holiday weekend. Next on the racing front are a couple of the Gales series in harbour races closely followed by the Riley Trophy (club round the island race) on the 24th May. As always, there will be skippers needing crew for these races and hopefully, people wanting to crew.

This is a great chance for dinghy sailors to experience cruiser racing and for the cruiser skippers to benefit from the racing skills honed by the dingy folk – don’t be shy – you only have to ask!

Looking further ahead, Cinabbar is off to France at the end of June (26th to 30th), heading primarily for St. Vaast, but maybe taking in Barfleur. If anyone wants to tag along, they are more than welcome – it is a great trip for a first Channel crossing, just about the same distance as Cherbourg but with a much less intimidating and much more attractive destination. Hopefully the weather will be nice and settled by then, with plenty of daylight hours to make the crossing safe and pleasant. Let myself or Moira know if you are interested and we can get together to make plans.

Roger Smith,
Cruiser Captain

Falmouth Cruising Group programme is now in full swing Once again this year we have a combined programme RNSA and RCYC – we have many members in common and historically our most successful ventures have been as ‘Combined Ops’ The weather is always the deciding factor but fortunately we already know that due to the considerable power of ‘positive thought’ this summer is going to be another outstanding one so please plan to attend every meeting – they will happen!! This year we shall have the ever popular shakedown meet at Fowey in early May and then a series of informal meet afloat’s during the summer.
