Winter Mooring Inspection

A brief summary of work done over the winter and the latest chart of occupants Progress this year has been slow due to the weather conditions over the last few weeks. The inspection of the ground chain has been hampered by a thick carpet of weed over the seabed. Most of the ground chain being fully buried in short sections and partially buried through out.

Launch Briefing – April Friday 11th 8pm

Hi all, the Launch Briefing will this year be held on Friday 11th at 8pm.

This is due to a clash with the Cadets who have had it their diary since the beginning of the year.

All are invited to attend but in particular the new cruiser owners. It will be good to see you all down for briefing as it is important and part of trying to make the Launch as safe as possible.

The Brilliance of Sunbeams – An Invitation to RNSA Members

The classic keel boat is a day racer for the connoisseur yachtsman; designed by Alfred Westmacott, the Sunbeam is regarded by many as his masterpiece. The design was commissioned in 1992 to form a new class on the River Hamble, the first headquarters of the Solent Sunbeams where it was ruled that all boat names should end with a ‘Y’.

Fine racing conditions materialised for the first Wednesday race of the season, 10-15 knots of Easterly breeze that was not unduly cold, flat water and a tide that was only just starting to gather pace. Eleven boats made it to the start line off Gilkicker P:oint and the Race Officer onboard Tinker T set a short leeward/windward course to Browndown buoy and back.
