Tidal Diamond 391 – Ebb & Flow, Family Fun Day, Missing Lead

Tidal Diamond No. 391

Deadline for the next issue of Ebb & Flow – Monday, 2 June 2014

Get into print!

As usual, we need your input to make Ebb and Flow interesting so please let us know all about your sailing adventures and activities. If you are writing an article (and please do), a few photos if you have them help to make it even more interesting (and make it easier to adjust it to fit in the space available).

We can all learn from the nautical experiences of others so let’s hear about your sailing successes and failures – don’t be embarrassed, pseudonyms can be used if you prefer! So cruising tips – or trips, race training ideas, your favourite type of dinghy or cruiser, cooking in confined quarters – all contributions gratefully received.

Let us know about your sailing experiences so far this year and what you’re planning for the rest of the summer. What made you want to get afloat in the first place. Sailing trivia, most useful piece of kit, book reviews, your favourite nautical film or poem?

Sailing stories or cartoons? Don’t be shy, start to write!

If you have an idea, please get in touch and send your contributions to ebbnflow

Family Fun Day – Saturday 14th June, 11am

Come and join in with the Family Fun day and invite your friends and family or even your next door neighbours. The aim of this event (as well as having fun) is to promote the club and to entice potential new members.

The day will include a number of water and land based activities for all ages and abilities.

Come with gear prepared to get wet! Non member… friends are welcome.

We have buoyancy aids for children (but they will need their own suitable water side clothing). Patrol boats will be on the water. Opportunity for friends to have a go at sailing (close to the club house). Bring kayaks if you have them for kayak races. Bring inflatables for a mess about.

We have events planned even if the weather is not suitable for going on the water so please make the date in your diary now.

There will BBQ food available for purchase but feel free to being a picnic if you want.

If you need any more info regarding plans for the day or if you can give some time on the day to help out please contact.

Missing Dog Lead

Denise Moore left a very long, knotted up, black dog lead attached to the perimeter fence outside the entrance to the Tudor Club at 10 pm on Monday 19th.

Denise went to collect it this evening (Wednesday 21st ) at 6pm and it was no longer there.

If anyone has rescued it, could they please contact Denise so that she can retrieve it soon

Thank you

News from France

Two rumours worth investigating if you are planning to go to France this season We are in the Channel Islands and have 2 unconfirmed reports which may affect boats visiting France this year. 1. A British yachtsman in Cherbourg was fined 600 Euros for not flying his ensign at night. We believe the high cost of this fine was probably because, when confronted, he was a bit stroppy with the officials.

Cowes Week Party

Monday 04 August 2014 at the Sir Max Aitken Museum, The Prospect, 83 High Street, Cowes, Isle of Wight. The party will start at 1900 and as usual there will be eight different finger foods plus sandwiches accompanied by your choice of Pimms, Wine or soft drinks. £20 a head on the door. Warming up for The Defi 2014

The RNSA Windsurfers have entered a team into the Defi 2014 Endurance Race in Gruissan France. 'Wind City' as its known provides a reliable 20-40 Kt wind known as the Tremontana which howls off shore, providing flat and furiously fast racing on the 40Km course. Rear Comodore Windsurfing Adrian Wallis is leading a team of three RNSA sailors at the Defi Wind.

East Coast Calais Rally

East Coast at sea again. Heading south and west towards Normandy 240705z. Nearly 70 years on, the beaches of Pas de Calais were stormed in style. Hitler was adamant that the Allied landings in France would be in the Calais Region. He was right, just the timing was wrong. The skipper of Successor anchored off the beach and made a one man landing onto the beach.

3 forts Race

Ladies and Gents.

weather looks reasonable with a F4 forecast for Sunday.

Following the decision to request event registration, we have at least 4 boats signed up and intending to to take part in the race this Sunday. This is one of my favourites, and can be good fun if the weather suits the event, and by golly it looks ideal. SO, come on peeps, get registering, make it worth the officials time and come on down.

hope to to see you on Sunday.!!!

Steve.
