High Hopes representing RNSA Portland finishes the Round-the-Island!

Light winds see less than half the entrants complete the course. This year’s race was held in high pressure weather which saw participants topping up on suncream, swimming off boats during the race and retiring in droves with the wind dying in the early afternoon. As always in these conditions the race was tactically challenging, and required a high level of concentration from all the crew over a longer than usual day.

Tidal Diamond 399 – Dinghy Cruise, Bart’s Bash, Cruiser Racing, Summer Ball

Calling all dinghy sailors with an interest in Day Cruising!
AROUND HAYLING CRUISE Sunday 6th July

On Sunday 6th July, Tudor SC will undertake a highlight of the club’s sailing calendar – the circumnavigation of Hayling Island. In response to Phil Bryant’s plea and my wish to enjoy this excellent event yet again, I have volunteered to act as cruise ‘marshall’ on this occasion.

If you have made this trip before, then you don’t need any further explanation about the excellent sailing, camaraderie and general uplifting of spirits that this cruise can provide. If you have not – then there is really only one way to find out! And .. if you would like to take part but would rather not do so ‘single handed’ – please turn up anyway as we should have a number of two-handers in the fleet who can accommodate an extra crew!
(Thinking about it – this is a particularly good opportunity for the club’s many Wayfarer sailors to wash the dust off their boats. It would be rather good to show HISC that TSC has a strong Wayfarer section when we pull up in their back yard for lunch!) Please note that we will be accompanied by the club RIB – so any ‘luggage’, lunch boxes, barbecues etc. can be stowed aboard. (A sort of on-the-water sherpa service for TSC members.)

We are scheduled to be on the water at 10.00 following a briefing at 9.45.

Sewage Outfall Marker Missing

Please be aware that the port hand marker on the old sewage outfall just outside the harbour entrance is currently missing. Please take care to give plenty of clearance to the outfall.

Photos are attached showing what the end of the outfall is like at present and the Harbourmaster has informed me that Southern Water will be attending soon to establish a temporary marker.

RNSA (P) Late Summer Series – Race 4

Another ideal evening for yacht racing saw ten local boats gathered at Gilkicker point for the start of race 4 of the Late Summer Series. Perhaps anticipating the 8-14 knots of SE breeze dying off as the evening wore on, the SOOD, Jolly Jack Tar set a short course to Browndown buoy, a downwind leg against the tide and back.

Tidal Diamond 396 – Regatta Catering Upgrade

Tidal Diamond No. 396

Regatta Catering Upgrade !!

Due to several requests for a BBQ this Saturday afternoon at the TSC Regatta the social committee would like to offer to run one but we need your help.

The social team can set up the BBQ and run it from 2.30pm but due to other commitments we need at least 3 volunteers to take over from 4.30pm and to clear up afterwards.

If you can help please let me know as soon as possible as I need to plan for and purchase the food.

You can contact me by email socialsec or by phone 07710 941241

If we don’t get enough volunteers to run the BBQ there will still be the planned ploughman’s lunches available.

Don’t forget that the bar will be open Saturday and there will be a live band playing from 4.00pm.

Come along and show your support !
