Dear Tudor

If you ventured into the bar at the weekend you might have noticed we have a brand new point of sale system, Square, in the bar, complete with integrated debit / credit card reader. As you will know from the 2019 AGM, we are working to try to reduce the amount of cash handling our volunteers need to do. Please could I encourage you to pay for drinks by card whenever possible? The system supports contactless (up to £30) and also chip and pin. As an added incentive there are no card handling fees deducted on the first £1,000 or first 3 months of takings (whichever happens soonest). There is a full set of guidance next to the till for those on bar duty.

The old PayPal Here reader is now in the galley and can be used to pay for food where this has not been pre-paid online.

We will of course continue to accept cash for bar and galley transactions.

Many thanks to Giles Redpath for organising and setting up the new system.
