Low Water Cruise Saturday
This Saturday there is a low water cruise starting at 10:30. This is an ideal event for less experienced dinghy sailors to go out in company with patrol boat cover. It is also an ideal event to be able to see the harbour and its channels at low water.
If anyone would like to lead the cruise then please do get in touch, otherwise I will be happy to lead the cruise. Either way there will be a briefing on the club house lawn at 10am to go over the route which may include a stop on sword sands for lunch.

Horse Sands Fort and LV See Pursuit Races Change of Date
Due to patrol boat availability, both the Horse Sands Fort and LV See Pursuit races have changed dates. The Horse Sands Fort race will now be held on 18th September with a start time of 10am. And the LV See Pursuit race will now be on the 21st August starting at 1pm. This will mean that there is no racing on Sunday 7th August. The sailing calendar has been updated to reflect these changes.
Hope to see you out on the water

Rowing Update
Rowing Race Night
A beautiful evening Friday but still a hard row out to the Broom buoy against the tide. A brilliantly challenging sprint row for such a short stretch of water. It was fantastic to welcome Dell Quay Sailing Club and the Coastal Rowing Academy as club guests. Dell Quay were trying the Bursledons for the first time and they were rightly impressed.
Picture attached of the winning team.
The last friendly Friday race night of the summer season will be August 26th and we’re hoping it will be a big party with lots of clubs joining us for fun and supper. More to follow, but please do come along and join in.
Round Hayling Rowing Race
Sunday was this year’s Round Hayling rowing event and Tudor had 3 gigs entered for potentially what should have been ’round’ Hayling. Given the windy conditions and a south westerly F4 to 5 (and gusting higher) the course was shortened to round the Mulberry and back. From Northney down the harbour this proved a challenging 9 mile round trip especially on the way down against wind and tide!
With a staggered start just about reflecting the handicaps the 3 Tudor boats started near the front, Navigator and Freedom battled the elements and each other with Navigator crossing the just ahead and taking 3rd across the line and the Fastest Bursledon Gig trophy. Rosie with an all women team weren’t too far behind.
Congratulations to our Tudor teams – 1st, 2nd and 3rd in our class. It continues to be a winning year. Picture of the Navigator crew attached.
Seamanship Evenings
We’ve had two great evenings at the club with Knotty Night and Turning the Tide. If you have ideas of other seamanship evenings we could hold at the club, please get in touch with me. We’ll definitely do Knotty Night again this Autumn and there’s potential for a talk on surviving at sea. Your input is encouraged to help us develop these evenings for all club members.
Tudor Challenge August 13th
More to follow on this next week (I’ve gone on long enough already ) but please do put the date in your diary. Everyone is welcome and it will be great to have so many local sailing clubs and rowing clubs joining us for the day. A fantastic opportunity to showcase the club. If you’d like more details ahead of next week’s TD please pop me a message.

Social Events Update
Games Night – Friday 5th August
Sorry to those of you that had shown an interest in coming along to the games night, but unfortunately we have had to cancel the event due to bar closure.
We will reschedule.
Tudor Challenge – Saturday 13th August
TSC will be hosting our first rowing regatta and we are hoping the event will be a huge success, but we can’t do that without your help!
If you need to get those duty hours completed, well this could be the event for you. You could nearly get all them done in one day if you wished to!
We are looking for people to run the BBQ, help in the galley or behind the bar.
For times and duties please check Dutyman, thank you

Hi All Tudor members,
During a recent inventory check by the maintenance committee it has become apparent that the club is missing a medium height step ladder and an extending ladder!!!!! does anyone have any information as to their whereabouts? If you have borrowed them please return same…..the committee will work hard to cover your embarrassment so long as we have them returned pronto.
All information to maintenance

Tudor Club Road Trailers
Hi all club members, particularly dinghy owners.
The maintenance committee have “resurrected” 3 combination road trailer bases that were donated some time back in history, these 3 units have had new wheel bearings, they have also been fitted with fully adjustable rollers, adjustable bow snubber blocks and adjustable jockey wheels. there is also an “over roof” mast support for transporting a dinghy and its mast.
These trailers can be used by club members to transport their own boats to races or to and from home.
They will shortly appear on web collect for booking and have a nominal charge of £10 per day to cover their maintenance.
Please report any problems or damage immediately to the maintenance section.
The trailers are located at the North end of the large compound and are numbered 1, 2, and 3.
Happy boating
