Barn Dance – Friday 21st October

Yeehaw! Bring your friends and family down to the club for a rootin’ tootin’ time! We will have an amazing band with a caller who will guide you through all the steps. Solent Tsunami Talk – Friday 28th October

Come along to hear this amazing true story by Steve Russell, a former RNLI crewman. A dramatic encounter of a Solent Tsunami by two Portsmouth Lifeboats on the East Winner bank and the subsequent hunt for the cause. You will be introduced to natural phenomena that few would have believed could happen right here, in the Solent! This was such a dramatic event it was kept very quiet about it, fearing ridicule. The talk will begin at approximately 7pm. We will be serving jacket potatoes with salad, coleslaw and your choice of fillings from 6pm. TSC Regatta – 24th & 25th September

Racing for cruisers and dinghies with fun on the water after racing. There will also be a sunset paddle before heading back to the club for pasty, pint & quiz. Poster attached. Sailing instructions will be issued next week but racing for cruisers is expected to start at 10.30am followed by dinghies at 11.00am.

Bursledon Regatta

Our Gigs had an away day on Saturday. After 50 years in the Bursledon pool, the Bursledon, Swanwick, and Warsash Regatta moved to Warsash Sailing Club. This year’s “Caribbean” themed regatta, included the annual Bursledon Gig race. The course was roughly two miles. A sprint against the tide on the Warsash side of the River, ending in Kipper Pond, which is the water between the Warsash Sailing Club Jetty and the Maritime Academy Jetty. A brilliantly themed event with vibrant music, colours, and lots of floating frivolity.

It’s been an amazing summer for rowing competitions and congratulations to the four Tudor Rowing crews (Olive, Friendship, Navigator and Freedom) who took part in the Bursledon Regatta. With 12 boats in the race the Tudor crews finished 1st,2nd 4th and 6th overall retaining the Rose Bowl trophy (won by the Friendship crew) and the Sheave Trophy (won by the Freedom crew). The course which run down the Hamble against the tide was a tricky, and busy one to navigate, and particular mention needs to go to all the coxes involved who all did an excellent job on the day.

In addition to retaining the two trophies the rowing section have now gained a new one which was awarded to the Freedom Crew for best overall performance in the 2022 Hamble River Raid and Bursledon Regatta. Anyone visiting the club house will see this amazing trophy next to the bar as it is too big and heavy to fit in the trophy cabinet.

Unfortunately there was no trophy for the best dressed boat otherwise this would have been awarded to team Olive who rowed the course with inflatable palm trees in the boat and still managed to achieve 4th overall. Great job team Olive!

As you’ll see from the attached pictures everyone made the most of the hospitality from the organising sailing clubs. A really fun day which showcased the teamwork and friendliness of TSC. Next Saturday is the Great River Race, also known as London’s river marathon. 21.6 miles on the Thames. We’ve got 5 gigs making an appearance including our new gig Lady Jane making her debut in the capital. Watch this space and social media for pictures and updates.
