I am sure you will have seen today’s latest developments on social distancing, and wondered what it means for your sailing. You will know that we have already closed the clubhouse as a social venue and also suspended club organised sailing activity. It is our understanding that members may continue to sail their own boats so long as sensible social distancing is maintained. This is consistent with the most recent advice from the RYA, and we will notify you if their advice changes. Members should minimise use of the changing facilities, ideally checking that no one else is present before entering.

We plan to continue to issue harbour / mooring and compound permits at the sessions on 22nd and 27th of March. We have an approach to this that will maintain social distancing – you will be asked to queue on spaced chairs and only approach the collections desk when invited to do so. However if you are in one of the higher risk groups identified by the government, we would encourage you to stay away. As noted in the earlier communication, we are not able to refund harbour and mooring permits (purchased on your behalf from the Langstone Harbour Board) even if you decide not to sail this season, as the Langstone Harbour Board do not permit it.

Update for berth holders in the Portsmouth area

Berth holders may still access Fleetlands and Dolphin / Fort Blockhouse but there are additional precuations. Hornet Services sailing Club continues with its launch programme but if you wish to delay please talk to Arty as they are being flexible. If you are a Fleetlands berth holder then please note that you have an additoinal form to complete and you should have received this by now from Gemma.

Message from Club Commodore Dear Members Following Government Coronavirus advice and the recommendation to avoid large gatherings, I have been looking at ways of keeping the Club going. Regrettably we have already had to cancel social events and gatherings and for the present we are running the bar and galley for lunchtime snacks, observing the "distance" requirement (basically keep a boat hook's distance apart!), but we are keeping this under review in line with Government announcements.
