Club Closure

With great sadness, following Boris Johnson’s announcement yesterday evening, we now have to say that we must close the club for all purposes until further notice.

For cruisers, this means that the cruiser relaunch weekend is cancelled and no further individual cruiser launches will be permitted. Cruisers will not be charged for overstay while these restrictions are in place. We will be approaching the Harbour Master to see if they can offer any concession on next year’s harbour fees.

In addition, we believe that travelling to the club in order to use dinghies, gigs, kayaks or other equipment cannot be classed as ‘necessary travel’ and people engaging in on-the-water activities always carries risk that may involve emergency services. The Exec has taken the difficult decision not to permit members to use the club for any water-based activity.

The final collection of stickers on Friday is cancelled and remaining stickers will be issued once the club is able to reopen.

Let us hope that this crisis resolves allowing us to reopen the club at some point in the not too distant future.

We ask that you support the Executive Committee as we try to navigate through this quickly changing situation. We will continue to meet regularly by telephone and will give you further updates as we have them.

Best regards,

Richard Gunn

I thought it worth including a few useful links here as a handy place to find them if you haven’t already got them bookmarked:

It is probably also worth noting:

Call for leaflet pictures

Hi All members, times are tough but this “Corvid storm” will pass and life will move on and as some of you will have a bit of spare home time here is something to think about. Currently we are designing an advertising leaflet, it is well under way and we have plenty of pictures to choose from for the dinghy and rowing sections but we need some pictures to show off the cruiser section. These should show the facilities available and or activities, for instance do we have any aerial pictures of the moorings that were taken by drone? Or maybe an interesting launch picture showing the hoist at work, or a group of cruisers and their crews enjoying themselves on a rally?? We also need pictures to show our support for Kayaking perhaps a picture of a group of Kayaks on our slipway but I will let you folk come up with what you think would look good on a leaflet, the more pictures we have to choose from the better. Please send to maintenance
