Free Electronic Navigation Guide launched

Booklet available The Royal Institute of Navigation, in conjunction with Trinity House, the RYA, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the RNLI, has launched a booklet to help sailors use electronic navigation systems. It is not a 'how to' guide, but instead gives guidance to skippers with Day Skipper level knowledge or higher on the advantages and drawbacks of different systems and the safe use of electronic navigation and association systems on yachts.

Zoom Bingo

To all members

Your new social committee members have been brainstorming how we can meet up in these times of social distancing and would like to invite you to our first social event of 2021, Bingo!

We hope many of you will join in to have a bit of fun and maybe win a prize or two. There will be four games and a variety of prizes to be won (chocolate and alcohol).

The event will take place on Zoom on 19th February at 7pm.

As we are all currently unable to meet up in person, it would be great to see as many of you as possible, open a bottle or two and get to know each other better.

If you fancy giving it a go, please send your contact details (name and address) to socialsec so we can post your bingo cards ready for the game.

Eyes down!

Waiting for the Tide

Well I had three offers of the second part, so you can breathe a sigh of relief as you will find out how the story finishes. You also don’t have to wait as long as before, where part one was in the December issue and part two the following March! Slightly puzzling that the page numbers and layout don’t match in the scanned copies I have, but that will remain a mystery. One mystery was solved though, and that is why the December 2002 edition had a higher issue number than the December 2003 – see the attached part 2. If anyone has any more copies, do send them through.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Stay safe.
