Alfie’s Story

Explore the latest updates from the Portsmouth Sail Training Trust, where we share inspiring stories, important announcements and celebrate successes.

Alfie’s Story

Alfie started attending PSTT back in 2018. Alfie used to struggle to control his emotions and sometimes found it hard to develop good relationships with his peers.

Through PSTT, Alfie grew in confidence, gaining skills and qualifications which helped him to control his behaviour and realise that he was interested in exploring a career in the Navy. Alfie is now doing the Uniformed Services Course which will help him realise his dream of joining the Navy.

The PSTT programme was where Alfie first realised he had a passion and talent for sailing.

The sailing programme really helped me to gain confidence and work towards my career in the Navy. I can now control my feelings of frustration much better and have made new friends at college. I am enjoying the Uniformed Services Course which will help me work towards me joining the Navy

– Alfie

We could not be prouder of Alfie. We look forward to seeing him continue to grow into a confident and capable young man.

Padlocks and Leaks

Hi All Tudor members,

Here are two points to be dropped into the “Grey Matter”…

First… By now all of the gate padlocks will have been renewed, please treat them with respect as they are essential to the function of the club and also very expensive. If at any time you find a lock to be giving trouble report it immediately to a club officer, please do not use WD 40 or any other oil. If it is essential for it to be immediately lubricated only use a silicone based product, further do not swap the club main entrance padlock for another as that lock is slightly different to allow brewery access.

Second… When next in the compounds please keep an eye open for possible pipe leaks after the current cold snap. Report any suspicions to the maintenance section or any club officer.

Waiting for the Tide

Just a couple of quick reminders here for this Tidal Diamond.

Firstly, don’t forget Zoom Bingo this Friday. It may well be a bit late to get cards to you in time, but it’s worth mentioning again just to celebrate a social event in these unprecedented times (I have completely lost count of how many times I’ve used that term!).

Secondly, another “don’t forget”, this time subs. You should have had an invoice sent through, if not get in touch so that can be sorted out. Either way, don’t forget to pay. Have faith that we will get out on the water at some point this year – and I’m sure when we do it will feel better than ever!

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Stay safe.
