RNSA(P) Autumn Series Race 9

With two boats in contention for the IRC Autumn series top spot the grande finale almost never took place as 32 knot winds battered Stokes Bay at 1400. However the Met office, guessing right for a change seemed confident that the winds would abate in the late afternoon and the final race of the Autumn series remained on.

Cancelled – 2013 Inter-Services Windsurfing Championships 26-27 Oct 13

The 2013 Inter-Services Windsurfing Championships have been Cancelled due to area conflictions in Portland Harbour After consulting the Army and RAF leads it has regretfully been decided to postpone the 2013 Inter-Services until early spring 2014. The current revised date of 2 / 3 Nov makes it very likely that at least 2 teams competing would be significantly short and it was agreed that this was sufficient cause to opt for a revised date.

RN Speed week team Triumph

The wind arrived for 'Big Wednesday' at the Portland Speedweek and although pipped by micro-knots for the fastest run, the RN eam were fasted overall and had the Speed Champion Speedweek Tuesday was very quiet with almost absolutely no wind for the entire day. Inevitable really as this was the day that the BBC sports correspondent Mike Bushell turned up to make a broadcast about the event! look out for his piece on a TV near you soon.

Finland to Home

Peter Stone's final report in his trilogy about his cruise to the Baltic Peter's report takes you from Finland back to the UK through the Kiel Canal (pictured) and the Dutch canals. It is written in a similar style to the previous two of this cruise, with items of interest to both those thinking of cruising in this area as well as others just seeking a good read.

RNSA(P) Autumn Series Race 8

The 22 knot gusting 28 winds at 1500 in Stokes Bay had abated to a gentle 18-20 kts as the fleet assembled at Gilkicker point for the penultimate race of the Autumn series. With the start time now 1630 because of the rapidly fading daylight it was clear that some boats were struggling to meet this time particularly exiting Portsmouth Harbour at low water and having to take the long route to Gilkicker point.
