New Members Evening

This Friday 22nd October at 7.30

We look forward to seeing new members who have joined over the last few years. There will be finger food and some fun quiz activities – nothing too hard, the evening is all about meeting others and having a good time.

Team captains and committee members will be available, so it will also be a great chance to ask any questions you may have about the club. Please click on this link: https://webcollect.org.uk/tudorsc/event/new-members-fun-social-night and add your name to Webcollect, there is no charge.

The bar will be open.

Frostbite Race 1

This Sunday is the first race in the Frostbite race series which runs up until Christmas. The race will start from the club line at 2pm. For this race to go ahead we still need a patrol boat crew so if you are trained up then please sign up via Dutyman.

End of Season Get Together

WoW & Paddlers (all welcome!) Friday 29th October

Come along and have a chat about the season just gone, share ideas for next season and enjoy each others company. Food is bring your own buffet – this will be laid out for all to share. At the gathering the kayak captain for 2022 will be nominated for election at the January AGM.

Feel free to message me or the groups with food you will be bringing to avoid multiple plates of sausage rolls!

Dinghy Section Meeting

On Friday 5th November there will be a dinghy section meeting in the clubhouse. The meeting will start at around 7:30pm and will be a fairly informal affair. We will be discussing this year and what sailors would like to see in the calendar next year.

We will also be voting on the role of dinghy captain ahead of the nominations meeting on the 7th November. I am happy to carry on but I do welcome anyone who wants to take over the role.

Waiting for the Tide

It was great to chat with some new members over the recovery weekend, as well as some old ones. In spite of a few challenges with the tractor all the boats were recovered, although the Sunday was a longer day that usual. Being there on both days is a great help to all the organisers and people working hard to make things run smoothly. Even if your boat is already ashore, those that aren’t need help with crew, and of course there’s road marshalling, and other things that need doing still. That’s without mentioning the opportunity to chat with other members and the excellent food!

Before I round off I’ll just drop in a quick quote from the Facebook group for anyone who isn’t on there:

Tomorrow night, Wednesday 20th. October, 9pm. History Channel. ‘Why do the Brits win Every War?’ Watch or record it, you may notice a few familiar faces filmed on local waters!“.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Let’s be careful out there.

Waiting for the Tide

With the cruiser recovery operation this weekend I thought I’d pick out a few bits from the direct emails as a reminder as well as a few general comments:

  • 0700hrs start, and all cruiser owners should attend the whole weekend to help out (as per the old usual!)
  • remember to bring everything you need including chocks and your VHF (see checklist already circulated)
  • if you haven’t paid please do so ASAP
  • the compound and slip will have restricted access for safety reasons with the tractor and rig operating, so if you haven’t been directed to enter the area please keep clear

If you are coming ashore and haven’t had the necessary emails let the club know so you are fully informed.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Let’s be careful out there.
