Cadets Cancelled
Unfortunately Cadets will be cancelled for the next 2 weeks 28th July and 4th August. This is due to Cadet volunteers having to isolate myself included.
If you can spread the word to those who don’t have Facebook that would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to contact everyone as quickly as we can.
Not a great way to start the summer holidays but we hope you have a lovely summer break and keep safe.
Fingers crossed we will see you all very soon.
Take care and stay safe.

Dinghy Section Update
This Saturday is the first of the summer series racing down harbour from the committee boat Bruce. The first race will be at 5pm with the second race commencing after the first. We do need a patrol boat helm for this event to go ahead, so if you are trained up then please volunteer via Dutyman.
This Sunday is the long distance and Boxall race starting from the club line at 10:30. Fast handicap boats will be competing for the Long Distance Trophy and the slow handicap fleet will be competing for the Boxall Trophy. It is hoped that some of the racing can take place out of harbour but a decision will be made on the day. For this event we do need a patrol boat helm, crew and race officer.
On Saturday the 7th August, Locks will be hosting the wild goose chase. If you are thinking of taking part can you please drop me an email so that I can inform locks on the rough numbers of interested members from Tudor.

Calling all Young Rowers
We are delighted to announce that we are once again building a “Young Rowers” group at the club. The previous group headed by (to name just a few) Dani, Ella, Jay and Callum all became exceptional rowers and coxswain, winning races and helping to spread the name (and fear ) of Tudor SC rowers, but time has rolled by and they have inconveniently grown up and become “Oldies” … so we start anew.
The most important point to emphasise is that all Tudor rowing is done informally and for FUN, apart from basic boat discipline there is definitely no “regimentation” and we know from the feedback from other clubs that this is a major draw for new and old rowers alike.
So!! Go and find your children and Grandchildren aged between 10 and 18 and lead them to our new Young Rowing group where they will build confidence afloat with high quality tuition in a fun atmosphere.
Weekly coaching sessions are planned for Thursday evenings starting at 1730 hrs, finishing each week around 1830 hrs. Rowing is an all year pursuit, and we’ll revisit the day and time as we lose the light.
Young Rowers under the age of 15 will be mainly taught sculling technique to protect their young musculature from the side stresses of Sweep oars.
All coaches will be DBS checked and the training will be carried out under the Tudor rowing section safety protocols which are available in the rowing section of the website. The group will naturally be monitored by the club welfare officer.
As, by design, there are limited seats on a gig, please book a place by contacting the Rowing Captain. From there you’ll be sent the necessary consent paperwork to complete and added to our new Young Rowers WhatsApp group where we can keep you up to date easily on news, information and all the fun your children are having. Sessions will be £2 per rower per week which goes towards club gig maintenance.
All that’s left to say is … Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 await

Call for Volunteers
Hi All members,
Club maintenance hours:
Currently there are 2 jobs available for work hours:
1. There is a length of fascia to be fitted above the club entrance. The timber is lying adjacent and has been treated so just needs cutting and fixing.
2. A drain from the cooler in the Bar cellar requires modification, this will require basic plumbing skills.

Waiting for the Tide
Well that’s quite a bit for this week’s Tidal Diamond so I’ll class it as a low tide and continue to my usual sign off… actually that should probably be a high tide as then there’s no waiting to be done. Nothing wrong with low tides though, I have some great memories growing up of “Sword Sands tides”, building sand castles, racing muscle shells and sitting in the cockpit watching the sand dissappear
As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address. No need to be feeling isolated and cut off from the world to do so, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.
Let’s be careful out there.
