New First Aid Box

Hi All Tudor members,

Please note that a new FIRST AID BOX has been positioned on the wall in the club lobby directly beneath the defibrillator, the unit is held in place by flexible plastic lugs which allow for a simple “Pull” removal using the handle at the top. Please spread the word to other members to avoid loss of time in an emergency.

By the way a new Stainless steel outboard test tank is on order and should be in operation within a week or so.

Regards

Waiting for the Tide

There are new reporting procedures coming in place from 1st January 2022 detailed under Notice 8: sailing your pleasure craft too and from the UK which can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/notice-8-sailing-your-pleasure-craft-to-and-from-the-uk/notice-8-sailing-your-pleasure-craft-to-and-from-the-uk. There are a number of links to follow from there, including to National Yachtline, which is the number you call when you arrive from outside the UK or the Channel Islands (https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/national-yachtline). I haven’t fully got my head around it, and some things relating to sailing out of UK waters and back seem to still be in flux, but a good place to start is with the RYA (who are working hard to try and sort things out and get some clarity), details can be found at: https://www.rya.org.uk/knowledge/external-affairs/brexit.

On a slightly lighter note, there’s an attached PDF with more details about this weekends Christmas Fayre.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Let’s be careful out there.

Jingle Bell Gigs – Saturday 4th December

Have you ever wondered what Shepherds would look like rowing in the harbour? No, me neither, but I’m looking forward to the Reindeer, Elves, and possibly even a few wise men on the water on Saturday 4th December. Weather permitting the rowing section will meet at 1.30pm, and be on the water for 2pm for Christmas gig fun on Saturday 4th December.

Back at the club house around 5pm there will be a baublelicious buffet with plenty of HoHoHo.

If you’d like to come along to join in our Christmas fun in gigs, just drop me a line on the email below. Everybody is welcome. Be great to see a few paddlers out too. If you’d like to come later in the day and share the fun in the warmth of the club house, we’d love to see you. Below is the link for pre booking your buffet supper.

Dig out your trusty antlers and elf ears, looking forward to seeing you there.

Waiting for the Tide

A couple of RYA links this week.

Firstly one that may be for the more adventurous sailors “New digital emergency Beacon Registry service goes online“. This is a new self service online portal for the EPIRB registry that should make things easier: https://www.rya.org.uk/news/new-digital-emergency-beacon-registry-service-goes-online

Secondly, details of new rules for those towing trailers that actually came into force on the 15th November: https://www.rya.org.uk/news/government-announces-new-rules-for-towing-a-trailer

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Let’s be careful out there.
