Gould / Challenge Series
This Saturday is the first of 3 races for the Gould/challenge series. For this race to go ahead we still need a patrol boat crew. If you are trained up then please volunteer via Dutyman. For those who don’t know the Gould series is run in parallel to the challenge series. The Gould series has a personal handicap number based on the competitors race results from qualifying races during this season. The challenge series is open to all members regardless of any race results from this season.

Waiting for the Tide
There’s a couple fewer lines in the Diary Dates section this week. It is the time of year when things begin to wind down, and although I could have filled the extra rows, they would have contained the compound reorganisation and cruiser recovery weekend; I decided not to put them in as I’m not quite ready to give up on this season yet!
On the LNtM front, and as if to prove the season isn’t quite over, there is a Cross Solent Paddle on 16th September, between Ryde Sands and Stokes Bay. This may slip to 17th if the weather is poor, which is likely key for a lone paddle boarder (well, with support vessels). More details at: https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/QHM/Portsmouth/Local-Notices/LNTM/2021/2169.
Of course I’m sure there are those challenging this talk of the season close, as we do have the Frostbite and Icicle series to keep the dinghy sailors going through the colder months, as well as some hardy rowers who will be keeping club members on the water.
As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.
Let’s be careful out there.

Maintenance Jobs
A new section for the Tidal Diamond where you can check for opportunities to tick off those maintenance hours. Just announcing the feature this week, but watch this space in future Tidal Diamonds. In the mean time see Dutyman for opportunities to help out with the social and sailing events.
I’m sure there will be some stuff here soon, but in the mean time I thought some links to other club duties that can cover maintenance hours would be worth adding (possibly moving to the Useful Links section later).

Useful Links
I thought it worth continuing to include a few useful links here as a handy place to find them if you haven’t already got them bookmarked:
