Social Events Update
Charity BBQ – 2nd July
Please join us on Saturday 2nd July from 2.30pm for a BBQ to celebrate the finish of 24 hours of non-stop rowing, and see the boat that will be rowed 3000 miles across the Atlantic.
There are many ways you can help us raise money for the children’s charity Action Medical Research, by sponsorship, donation or by purchasing raffle tickets or even donating raffle prizes please, there is a box left in the club.
Or come along this Saturday, all proceeds from the food and drink will go directly to the charity. We have many drinks at Just £2, including lager, cider, gin, and pimms.
We will be drawing the raffle on Saturday afternoon and some amazing prizes have already been kindly donated, including a child’s Pompey shirt signed by the team, so don’t forget to get your tickets!
Please come along and help us at TSC to raise as much money as we can.

Wimbledon Ladies Final – 9th July
Come along and watch the ladies Wimbledon final on the clubs big screen and enjoy a glass of prosecco, whilst enjoying either a delicious bowl of eton mess or strawberries and cream.

Sword Sands Fun Day – 10th July
SAVE THE DAY!
The tide is right, let’s hope the weather will be too!
Let’s all make the most of having our own island so close by and spend the afternoon on Sword Sands enjoying the sun, sand and sea.
Bring along your footballs, frisbees, your badminton racquets etc, along with a picnic. The main thing is to bring yourselves and your friends and family along.
Then back to the club for a BBQ and a few drinks to finish the day off.
BBQ will be pay on the day.
Curry & Quiz Night – 15th July
You all did so well on the quiz last month, maybe I should make it a little harder?
We will be serving a chicken mango curry served with rice, poppadom and Naan from 6pm to 7pm
There is no need to eat to come along and join in with the quiz, but why not try something a little different.

Turning the Tide – 22nd July
Following on from knotty night, our next seamanship evening is Turning the tide.
Please sign up for a beginner’s look at how the tides work in our harbour, and what affects them. Plus some basic training on all those floating buoys out there and what they mean for you.
There’ll be chilli and rice served between 6pm and 7pm and our speakers will start at around 7pm. You don’t have to eat to come along, but pre booking either way would be appreciated so we know numbers to expect/cater for.
Although this evening is developed for newer members, our seasoned sailors, rowers, and paddlers are very welcome as the more advice and guidance in the room the better.

Round Up of Rowing Weekend
It’s been a busy weekend.
It was a real pleasure to welcome 16 members of Hamble River Rowing to our clubhouse on Friday evening.
Never feint hearted, not only did both clubs row with people they’d only just met, they also had to contend with deteriorating weather conditions with each race. Teamwork was crucial. It was a slog up Broom against the tide and wind from the get go, and by the final race let’s just say no one was in danger of smashing any previous time records. But everyone was still smiling at the end of the evening so I’d say a brilliant success. Thank you to all the TSC members that made all our guests so welcome. Picture attached of the winning team. 
Saturday we were invited to Bosham Sailing Club for their inaugural rowing regatta. I wasn’t there so thank you to Steve Woodbridge for the following and congratulations to you and the Navigator crew for bringing home another 1st place title for TSC. 
2 gigs from Tudor entered the race along with 6 other boats, 2 St Ayles Skiff’s, 2 Celtic Log Boat’s, a sliding seat Costal Quad and another Bursledon.
The event consisted of 3 races, a longer row to start south from the club, round School Rythe down the Bosham Channel turning just before the Chichester Channel and 2 shorter sprints north into Colner and Cutmill Creeks. The southerly force 3 to 4 combined with the rising tide made for challenging conditions.
Racing started at 09:00 and I’m pleased to report Tudor gigs were placed 1st and 2nd, Navigator closely beating Freedom into 2nd place. The only boat completing the course in a faster time was the Coastal Quad which lost out on handicap and was placed 4th behind the 3 Bursledons.
Celebrations gathered pace after the results and a BBQ, Tudor’s rowing reputation continues to grow around the area!

Langstone SC Regatta
Langstone Sailing Club is hosting their Regatta and Prentice Plate on Saturday, to be held in Langstone Harbour. They have plenty of room if people want to tow their boats round.
First race starts at 1.30pm (1.25pm warning signal). Please see the Sailing Instructions (attached) for details and timings.

I’m not entirely sure I want to think about the end of the season yet, but on the basis that some plans do need to be made, and entries made in diaries, here’s one from the Bosuns Committee +for cruiser owners to add:
Cruiser Recovery Weekend
15/16 October: The Cruiser Recovery will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October when high water will be at 1610. All club members who are planning to bring their boats ashore are asked to make themselves available for both days of the weekend.
