Low Water Cruise 2 – Saturday 13th July

This Saturday we have the second dinghy cruise of the year, for a few hours in the afternoon. The plan is to sail at 1400 so please be ready for a briefing around 1330. If the weather is kind to us then there is the possibility of including a trip along the seafront and back before some sailing inside the harbour. There may be a stop or two somewhere (eg Sword Sands) although this is not a certainty. You might like to bring a little money in case an ice cream opportunity presents itself. Or just bring a snack to have underway or if we do stop briefly somewhere. Once again, if you would like to find a crewing space in a boat or if you are able to offer such a space in your own boat then please contact the dinghy captain, Mark Swallow, at dinghies. We will do our best to match up people with boats.

Cruise Leader

Cruisers to Ryde

As with the family fun day at our Club, Sunday was a drizzly dreary day in Ryde for those cruisers who set out Saturday, the drizzly rain not really stopping until afternoon of Sunday. However, the Saturday travelling to Ryde was a fabulous, although the wind was on the nose, and not much of it. Fishing lines were trailed with a measure of success on the way over.

HW was after 1500 and due too the beautiful weather, much of Ryde’s visitors pontoon was already occupied, so most of our Club berthed along the north sea wall. Not so bad really in the fine conditions and very convenient for our BBQs into the evening that ensued on the sea wall in members company.

Although Sunday was wet, the late HW gave a number of us an opportunity to breakfast together in a café on the Esplanade. So thanks to Celtic Lady, Dream On, Good Year, Kadeena, Saltair and Two Tone who made the effort for the weekend cruise.

Car Tyres in the Compound

It has been necessary for the Club to pay out to dispose of car tyres brought into, and left in the compound, this time the cost was £25. The last occasion cost a £100 to have the tyres dealt with. A bit of waste of your Club funds, not to mention, the effort necessary to find somewhere to dispose of them. Tyres and other extraneous materials are troublesome to dispose of – please do not bring them to the Club. If you have rubbish, take it away with you, don’t leave it for others to deal with.
