26th July – Film night Mamma Mia 2 Here we go again.

Kim and Giles will be showing sing a long version of Mamma Mia 2. Hot dogs, sweets/popcorn and ice creams available. 7pm for 7:30pm.

31st August – Tudor Regatta

Please put this date in your diary. We shall be having BBQ during day; Beer festival tickets on sale shortly and also disco and food in evening! Tickets will be finalised shortly!

Volunteers for galley BBQ Duties required.

14th September – Barts Bash

Trafalgar Pursuit Race

This Saturday is the Trafalgar pursuit race. Unlike the usual handicap dinghy racing the start will be staggered based on your boats handicap number. The start times will be displaced by the signing on sheet in the garage.

Out of Harbour: Long Distance race & Boxhall trophies

The start time for Sundays race is 1330. It is hoped that the race will include some out of harbour marks and it is advisable to carry a compass.

  • Race Officer – Club Line Monday 26 Aug 2019 Sunset Series 9 at 19:00
  • And for the Tudor 70th anniversary Regatta on 31st August/1st September we need a club line race officer
  • for both days plus an additional Patrol boat Helm and Crew for both days.

Please volunteer if you can. I can move later duty forward if requested and implement the duty swap if needed.

Your club magazine needs your contributions please. Let us know how your summer season is progressing out on the water – whether its sailing, rowing, canoeing, kayaking. Successes, failures, what lessons can you pass on to other club members? Whether racing, cruising or just pottering about on the water, let us know and help generate interest in club activities. Share your sailing experiences and plans with the rest of us. Anything on water-based activities is welcome and we’d also like to hear from cadets and new members as well.

NL75 – A Personal Journey

Mark Heane, one of our members travelled to Normandy for the commemorations of 75th anniversary of D-Day. This is a short summary of his trip out. Saturday at 2230 hrs, I departed Chatham maritime Marina, bound for Oustreham in France, on Fidelio, my 29 foot Seamaster yacht. A good friend, David McMillan, a very experienced seaman and sail training ship instructor joined me as crew.

Eddystone Pursuit 2019

Simon Mace who is the son of our branch captain, is the Operations Manager of Horizons Children's Sailing Charity, which provides opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people with special needs in the Plymouth area to learn to sail. Horizons are supported by Medway Branch. Simon and a t Thank you to everyone who supported team Papagena (Simon Mace, Steve Mogford and Tony Jupin) for this year’s Eddystone Charity Pursuit.

New Lowestoft-built ships boat is launched for Excelsior

Monday 08 July saw the official launch of the Excelsior Trust’s new traditional ships’ boat at the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club Marina, the boat having been built by students at Lowestoft’s International Boatbuilding Training College (IBTC).
