Waiting for the Tide

Ryde Harbour

I thought the following information from Linda Vacher on the Cruisers WhatsApp group was worth adding to this week Tidal Diamond. Ryde Harbour is effectively closed, with the following notice displayed:

RYDE HARBOUR ENTRANCE HAZARD

  1. A sandbar has formed at the High-Water line across the entrance of Ryde Harbour IOW, impeding safe access to Ryde Harbour.
  2. Permanent vessels should navigate with extreme caution when entering or exiting Ryde Harbour and its vicinity.
  3. Visiting vessels are encouraged not to visit Ryde Harbour at the present time.
  4. The harbour continues to discuss with MMO for a variation of the dredging license. An application has been made, presently awaiting their decision.

For additional information regarding width and depth of the entrance, please contact Ryde Harbour directly – 01983 613879 or ryde.harbour@iow.gov.uk.

I have collected the photographs posted on the group here so everyone can see them.

Cruiser Launches

Many boats have been launched since the lockdown was eased and are now safely on their moorings. This is very much down to the hard work of a few club members organising everything and driving the tractors. I think this emphasises how the club runs thanks to the efforts of, often a relatively small number, of the club members. If cruiser owners can be as available and flexible as possible this will help ensure we get all the boats launched in the time we have left before losing access to the slip. This is not an easy task, and I would like to thank them for their hard work.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Stay safe.

Useful Links

I thought it worth continuing to include a few useful links here as a handy place to find them if you haven’t already got them bookmarked:
