Young Rowers – Autumn / Winter Schedule
The cooler, crisper air and the views of the changing harbour and beyond make rowing through the Autumn and Winter just as much fun as the warmer months. But we are, of course, losing the light earlier each day. To ensure our young rowers can experience the fun and benefits of rowing in cooler temperatures the weekly coaching sessions for Autumn and Winter will take place on Saturdays at 12 noon. This is effective from Saturday 25th September.
As, by design, there are limited seats on a gig, please book a place by contacting me at the email below. From there you’ll be sent the necessary consent paperwork to complete and added to our Young Rowers WhatsApp group where we can keep you up to date easily on news, information on weather and suitable clothing, and all the fun your children are having. Sessions will be £2 per rower per week which goes towards club gig maintenance.
A quick reminder, rowers under the age of 15 will be mainly taught sculling technique to protect their young musculature from the side stresses of Sweep oars.
All coaches will be DBS checked and the training will be carried out under the Tudor rowing section safety protocols which are available in the rowing section of the website. The group will naturally be monitored by the club welfare officer.
Any questions, as always, just get in touch.

Waiting for the Tide
To round off this weeks Tidal Diamond a couple of interesting LNtM from QHM Portsmouth:
Actually, perhaps ’rounding off’ is the wrong term. Do check below for a new maintenance job opportunity and the Diary Dates section.
As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.
Let’s be careful out there.

Maintenance Jobs
- The club waste container needs putting out the day before scheduled collection and then replacing in the compound shortly after it has been emptied. (approx. every 2 weeks). This is an ongoing requirement throughout the year. If this suits your scene please contact Ian DuCane at maintenance
