Friendly Fridays – Friday 12th May

Following on from our first session of the season, titled ‘help with your rigging and launching’, we would like to try and get more of you on the water this Friday evening. So why not pop down for a ‘shake down sail’ or a ‘paddle in company’ with your fellow club members.

Slipway Repair

On Thursday 18th May, contractors will be removing the damaged concrete section along the south edge of the slipway and constructing shuttering with reinforcing steelwork. Friday morning 19th May concrete will be laid and should start to cure within 2-3 hours. These works should not hinder the launching of dingies or tenders but please do not obstruct the contractor as his work is only possible between tides.

Langstone Harbour Race Weekend – featuring the Buzz, ISO & Wanderer National Championships – 27th-29th May

Online entry to this year’s LHRW is now open, so if you intend to compete this year, please take the time to register early. You are under no obligation to pay/participate in the event should you choose not to sail at the last minute – but we welcome online entry to help our administration of the event.

This year the event will host 3 national championship class opens, with the BUZZ, ISO and WANDERER classes choosing Tudor SC (and the other host clubs ? ) to play host to their headline events. If you are a member of the Wanderer Class Association – the association will even pay for 100% of your entry fee – so there really is no reason not to come and have a go! If you are a member of the Vago Class Association – the association will contribute £5 towards your entry fee.

All entrants can register online using the link below:

Nick Fletcher – old hand; new challenge

As many of you will know, Richard Farrington has led work to prepare RNSA for a possible, subject to members’ views, transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Richard has now moved on to prepare for a major sailing trip and our Commodore has asked me to support Phil Warwick, as both Vice Commodore and Chairman of the Central Committee, by leading work to prepare us to transition to our new status.
