Women’s Sports Week (June 19-25) aims to break down barriers to attract more women and girls to sport, so they can enjoy the huge benefits that taking part brings.

To the sounds of a 21 gun salute to mark the Queen’s official birthday in Havelet Bay, two young Guernsey RIB drivers showed off their skills in the Area Final of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championships on Saturday [17 June].

RYA launches tool The RYA has launched an online tool to enable sailors to report fishing gear entanglements as more accurate data is required to persuade authorities of the danger of poorly-marked fishing gear. If you have encountered problems with, or spotted, poorly marked fishing gear, whether or not you needed to call for assistance, you can now make a report online.

Revised set of General Conditions introduced A sailing vessel without auxilliary engine can now sail through the Inner Harbour Small Craft Mooring Area, as designated on Admiralty Charts south of the Detached Breakwater, when entering or exiting the harbour. This is provided that it is reasonably considered by the skipper to be the safest, most practicable route, taking into account : 1) prevailing conditions of weather, tide and traffic; 2) the yacht only uses the minimum number of sails required to maintain its course; 3) does not exceed the six knot speed limit; 4) and makes due regard for other vessels' manoeuvring characteristics.

HRH The Princess Royal, President of the RYA, will be among the guests helping Queen Mary Sailability celebrate its 20th anniversary at Queen Mary Reservoir, Ashford in June.

It was a blustery but thrilling day at East Antrim Boat Club on Saturday, as 12 competitors took to the water to battle it out for the title of Area Champion in the Honda RYA Youth Rib Championship.
