General Directions – Cowes
Revised set of General Conditions introduced A sailing vessel without auxilliary engine can now sail through the Inner Harbour Small Craft Mooring Area, as designated on Admiralty Charts south of the Detached Breakwater, when entering or exiting the harbour.
This is provided that it is reasonably considered by the skipper to be the safest, most practicable route, taking into account :
1) prevailing conditions of weather, tide and traffic;
2) the yacht only uses the minimum number of sails required to maintain its course;
3) does not exceed the six knot speed limit;
4) and makes due regard for other vessels' manoeuvring characteristics.
