Lobster pots

Campaign relaunched The Cruising Association and Yachting Monthly have relaunched a petition asking the Government to tackle the problem of poorly-marked fishing gear. The previous petition was halted pending the general election. The petition is running along side an RYA initiative to gather evidence of fishing gear entanglements to demonstrate the scale and severity of the issue.

Spring Cruise
27th May – Spring Cruise including
3rd June – Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club

The Spring Cruise will head for Newport on the Saturday. HW is 13:09 4.9m and you need to get to Newport no later than 2 hours after HW. Due to other commitments (a band gig) I will join the cruise on the Sunday. The plan is then as follows:

  • Monday optional bus trip and BBQ in the evening.
  • Tuesday afternoon, sail to Beaulieu, moor at either Bucklers Hard Marina or on the cheaper mid-river pontoons according to individual preference.
  • Wednesday optional walk to Beaulieu village.
  • Thursday sail to Newtown Creek and moor on the National Trust moorings (or anchor if you want the cheaper option).
  • Friday sail to Fareham Creek and the Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club and moor on their visitor’s pontoon.
  • Saturday optional walk.
  • Sunday sail back to Langstone Harbour.

The Cruise is structured so that you can miss out the final weekend at Fareham or omit the weeks cruise and just come to Fareham on the Friday or Saturday.

Although no booking is required, it would be helpful if you could let me know if you are coming on the cruise and especially if you are coming to Fareham S.M.B.C. on the last weekend.

I will be at the club this Friday evening (19th May) from about 21:00 to talk to any members who want to discuss the cruise.

I hope to see you there,

Richard Gunn
