Sunday 8th October, 12:30

This is the last race of the summer dinghy programme and we would like to invite all sailors to participate in these races regardless of if you qualify or not. We intend to run 2x races, from the club house line, laying a short course similar to the Barts Bash event a few weeks ago. We hope this encourages some of our new members to come down and have a go at racing, in a friendly, fun environment.

Cruiser Recovery Safety Briefing and Cruiser Captain Election

A reminder that the Cruiser Recovery weekend is the 14th/15th October and the Safety Briefing will be on Wednesday 11th October at 20:00.

As there is no Lift-Out Supper this year, the election of the Cruiser Captain will be held after the Safety Briefing on Wednesday 11th October and nominations are invited for this post which involves planning and organising the club cruise programme for next year. Please send nominations to cruisers.

I am unfortunately unable to attend the meeting but am willing to stand again if nobody else wishes to be Cruiser Captain.

Cruiser Recovery Weekend

In the absence of a Bosun, Myles has volunteered to be the Responsible Person for the forthcoming Cruiser Recovery Weekend.

So what do we need from you?

The Recovery is on the 14th and 15th of October and we expect to Recover ALL cruisers/fishing boats UNLESS you have informed the Bosun’s Committee (bosuns_committee), Linda Vacher (linda_vacher) that you are NOT intending to recover this year.

We need ALL of you to come at the weekend and help; if you do not have a specific job, please see Linda Vacher as she is always in need of crews for boats or Road Marshalls. One new thing for this year is that we are asking everyone to sign in on arrival with their boat name and mobile phone number so that we can contact you easily.

Finally, we need ALL of you to attend the Safety Briefing at 20:00 on Wednesday 11th October, Which will be held by Ian Barber, it will be short so should not take more than half an hour of your time, but some things are different this year so please come.

End of Season Dinghy Section Meeting

Contrary to previous communications and breaking with ‘tradition’, the end of season dinghy section meeting will not be hosted before or after the compound reorganisation this Saturday. This is because of limited timescales for those involved following the rescheduling of the Junior Regatta. The sailing committee will put out a revised date for this event in due course.
