Jester Baltimore Challenge

To get everybody’s appetites whetted for the 2018 sailing season, and to give cruiser owners in particular a bit of encouragement to get those pre-launch jobs done, I thought this may be of interest. Tudor member Donald Heath sent me the following:

“I sailed the Jester Baltimore Challenge last year (it’s a solo ‘challenge’, NOT a race!) which runs from Plymouth to Baltimore in West Cork. The rules are very simple, inasmuch as there pretty much are none …. start off Plymouth Breakwater, leave Draystone Ledge bouy, Wolf Rock, Bishop Rock and Fastnet Rock to starboard and finish on entering Baltimore Harbour where you record your own time of finishing.

Rather than writing up the trip, I enclose a link to the blog that I kept, starting at my departure from Langstone Harbour to return to my mooring a couple of weeks later:

The blog was written up on Yellowbrick Connect.

This year the BIG Jester is running – that is Plymouth to Newport RI. I’m considering it, and aiming to have the boat ready in time, but there is also a later event to La Corruna in Northern Spain which would actually fit in around my job, so some big decisions coming up.”
