Trustee Vacancies
The executive committee invites members to apply for the role of trustee. Paul Lovejoy is moving on to pastures new and Linda Vacher’s term as trustee finishes in March.
An overview of the trustee role is below.
- Trustees are appointed to look after the property i.e. the financial base of the club.
- Trustees are not executive committee members, they can attend exec meetings & should keep themselves up to date with the committee affairs. The can be called upon to comment or to give advice but they cannot vote at meetings.
- Trustees have a legal duty to ensure that the executive do not act in any way that will seriously jeopardise the viability of the club.
- The other significant duty is to act as the legal administrators if the club was wound up.
To be a trustee you must also fulfill the following criteria
- Have completed one year of membership.
- Have a permanent address, shown on a list of Local Government Electors, within forty miles radius of the Club premises.
To be considered please email commodore by Friday 9th February.

The Mercy (Film)
Linda Vacher has let me know that a film called The Mercy is to be released next month. This may be of interest to members as the film is about Donald Crowhurst who planned to circumnavigate the world (race) in 1968 but he did not complete this and in fact falsified his ‘Log books’ and never made it home. Always good to support local small enterprises so listings for the Chichester Cinema at New Park can be found at https://chichestercinema.org/film/the-mercy. Interestingly there is also a smaller budget film of the same story simply called Crowhurst due to be released soon, but there is no date yet.
