Tidal Diamond 611 – RYA First Aid Course, Rowing for all

Tidal Diamond No. 611

RYA First Aid Course

The sailing committee are planning to run a RYA registered First Aid Course on Saturday the 17/03. The course will run from 0900 until around 1600, the price will include a certificate and a first aid manual for all attendees. The cost will be £270 for 12 students, that works out at £22.90 per student. The course would be ideal for safety boat drivers and crew, or for Cruiser sailors that travel further afield. If you are interested please drop me an email to andy.healey to reserve a place. We will work on a first come basis but can always book another course if we have sufficient numbers.

“Easy Rowing” for all Tudor members
From Saturday 3rd February

This coming Saturday 3rd February and Saturdays going forward the Gig “Rosie” will be on the water for an Easy Rowing session at 1000hrs. For general information there is a group of us who row out from 08:00hrs on Saturday mornings and we normally finish our row by 1000hrs. One of the crew will stay behind to assist any member who would like to have a go at some “Easy Rowing”. These sessions are open to all club members and will last approx 30 minutes on the water. These sessions are for a bit of nautical fun. They will definitely not be punishing or too long to raise blisters. As far as we know everyone who’s tried it has enjoyed these outings.

Any member who has tried the Gig and would like to engage in a regular weekly row please email me at and I will put your name on our core regulars email group. It may be possible to organise sessions during week days for those who are retired or have some spare time to fill. If this would suit you, please let me know by email. Contrary to expectations it is not cold when rowing. Those of us who know the benefits are out there every week and we would not miss it for the world. Kit needed: A suitable buoyancy aid, wet boots, gloves, hat and a windcheater over some layers.

If possible let me know by email if you are “in” but if you cannot decide until the day, just turn up and I am sure we will fit you in.

POTENTIAL CHARITY STATUS – JANUARY 2018

In my last update, at the end of October, I anticipated that a few tweaks to the exiting application for Registered Charity status would gain approval by the Charity Commission. Unfortunately, this proved not to be the case. The Charity Commission does not accept that RNSA as a charity can support both Serving and ex-Service people.
