Terry Fleming Trophy

Each year, the Terry Fleming trophy is awarded, by the Sailing Committee, to a member who they feel deserves special recognition. This year, the Sailing Committee are delighted to award it to Neil Boyce. As well as being one of the most regular and proficient racers in the club (as evidenced by the table full of trophies with his name on) who takes a very active interest in the ongoing development of the racing calendar and is often asked for his opinion on thoughts on new races or perhaps new scoring systems, Neil has played a particularly large part in getting new and inexperienced members afloat this year. When we were generously gifted the Wayfarer Wysiwyg, Neil spent time reconfiguring the way that she is rigged to make it easier for less experienced members to get her on the water and then came down on many Friendly Fridays to rig her up and take members out for a sail. I am sure that many of our new members have Neil to thank for getting them out on the water and it’s great to know that such a safe pair of hands is willing to perform this role for us. Many thanks for all your efforts for the club Neil.

Get into Print!

Getting ready for another sailing season? Why not put pen to paper – or fingers to keyboard – and write a contribution for the next issue of Ebb & Flow. Didn’t you make a new year’s resolution to write for the magazine? Let’s hear what you were doing out on the water in 2017. There must be some sailing stories out there that deserve a wider audience so please get in touch – anything sailing (or vaguely) sailing-related is welcome. Cadets and new members are encouraged to contribute as well as those who have been “floating around” for longer.

Please send your contributions to the email below.
