Locking the Main Compound

A reminder to please lock the main compound, even if you assume that others ‘will be coming in soon’ to get their dinghy. A member arrived shortly before the race on Sunday and the compound was open with no one around. Default position is to lock the gate as you leave the compound.

Slipway Etiquette

When attending a race or a cruise, please can we all remember to offer a helping hand to the Patrol Boat crew, particularly at the end of the race as our ribs require 4 or 5 people to get them up the slipway in comfort.

Normally, I think we are pretty good at doing this but occasionally, perhaps when the rib has been required to stay out longer than normal, the PB crew can find themselves short of help. This is gentle reminder to make sure that we don’t leave them stranded at the bottom of the slip whilst we enjoy our hot shower or beer!!

Many thanks

Summer Cruise

Cinabbar & May (from the Fareham club) are off to the eastern channel for our summer cruise this year, starting 21st July and planning to return the 5 August. The aim is to start at Fecamp and get as far as Boulogne-Sur-Mer before returning via Eastbourne / Brighton. Attached is the rough plan, obviously subject to weather, like all such trips. The navigation is pretty simple, although many of the ports are very tidal.

Everyone is welcome to join us, either for the whole trip or just part.

If you have more time off, you can either set out earlier for a slower trip to Fecamp (maybe via Brighton?) or more leisurely return.

Please let Moira or myself know if you are interested or want any more information.

Roger Smith & Moira Barber
