Working Party
This Saturday, 6th October, we will be running a working party at the sailing club to get a few odd jobs done before the cruiser recovery. Starting at 10am. All tools and materials will be provided. All I ask is that you bring a pair of gardening gloves if you have them and clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy or paint on them. On the day please find me and I will assign you to a particular job that you feel capable of doing. For people that don’t know me I will be wearing a hi-vis jacket and most likely have a clipboard in hand.

Novice and Endeavour Trophy Races
Sunday 10:45 (HW 11:00)
This Sunday sees the Novice and Endeavour Trophy Races. These two races are described as:
- Novice Trophy – Handicap race open to all club members who have sailed at least 4 races during the season but did not win a race during the season and have not won this trophy before.
- Endeavour Trophy – Handicap race open to all club members who have finished at least 4 races but have not won a trophy during the season and not won this trophy before.
Therefore, for those who haven’t won a race or a trophy during the season, this is a great opportunity to race for a piece of silverware!
Even if you haven’t completed the 4 qualifying races, as per last year’s running of the race, it is our intention to lay a relatively short course in the main channel (depending on wind conditions) which we hope will appeal to those of you who might not normally join in with the racing. We hope to see as many of you out on the water as possible as the main sailing season draws to a close.

Moorings
Tis the season to be stormy!
Dear Cruiser members , as the last weeks of the Cruising Season commence we can expect equinoctial storms.
Please keep Buoy lines the right length of 1.5x your freeboard from Buoy to Fairlead in accordance with our Tudor Specification or you may bash into another boat or your pride and joy might even break free.

Social Update
Ordering of food for Friendly Fridays and other events.
Please remember to pre-book food on Webcollect rather than just turn up on the night or at the event. In future if you wait until the night you are likely to be disappointed. Our thinking behind this was to reduce waste, cut down on odd bits of food in the freezer and to make it easier for those cooking on the night to know numbers to cater for. This applies to the compound reorganisation and the maintenance day so if you are intending to attend please order your food via Webcollect
A big thank you to all those who helped out, attended and donated to the Phony Stones charity event in aid of Action for Children on the 29th September. A total of £789.89 was raised through ticket sales and the raffle plus donations of £310.68 for the abseil on the 9th September making a grand total of £1,101.89.
Upcoming Events
- 5th October – New members meeting please send along any friends you have they may be interested in joining.
- 6th October – Don’t forget your dancing shoes for the barn dance this Saturday.
- 6th October – Compound re-organisation and maintenance day – a good chance to boost your duty hours and help out around the club with your fellow members, lots of different jobs need to be done so the more the merrier. Please sign up with Mark Swallow at maintenance Food will be served – sausage or veggie pasta back. Please order on webcollect prior to the event to avoid disappointment on the day.
- 26th October – End of season get together – Pie and Vinyl so please don’t forget to place your food orders on webcollect there’s a choice of chicken and ham or steak or veggie pie and bring along your favourite record to boogie on down to.
