Cruiser Ladder Safety
Presently before Portsmouth Crown Courts is a case of a woman falling from the access ladder to a yacht (professionally stored) ashore causing her serious injury.
Now we are ashore, this case is a timely reminder to us all, especially, as towards the end of 2017/2018 lay-up period, we had three Members experience falls in the compound. One of these falls was most definitely from a ladder, fortunately without injury.
Members may care to review their own ladder’s suitability to the task of access and dismounting from your boat, and with particular regard to your duty of care to anyone you may invite aboard your boat, in the light of this information.
Of course, our Club can not be responsible for your ladder or the way it is used, but we don’t want anyone hurt. Club Members might like to consider that our boats in the compound is akin to boat yard with a variety of work being undertaken during lay-up. Appropriate equipment and the use of it will reduce the potential for injury.

RNLI cheque from GRR fundraiser
Hi all Tudor members,
I feel sure that you will all be pleased to know that the Rowing race team raised a hefty £880 from their “Thames Great River Race” fund-raising effort, as you can see in the attached pictures the money was donated to our local RNLI station at Eastney on the 21/10/08. We regularly row past them and it is a comfort to know that they are there should a serious problem arise.

IoW Ferry
[For those not on Facebook who may be looking to head marginally further south, particularly now the usual method of travel is in the compound.]
If you’re thinking of going over to the IoW, there’s several ways to get cheaper tickets with Wightlink. If you’re an RYA member or staff then you can get a discount; you can find a discount code by logging into the members area of the RYA website and search for Wightlink. There are also discounts for Caravan Club members, NHS staff, military personnel, Unite Union members. More info can be found on their websites, remember to bring the relevant ID with you. As a foot passenger you can purchase rail tickets from a mainland station to an island station which includes your ferry ticket. You can also use national rail discount cards to get a discount on ferry fares.
