New green campaign focuses on antifouling

RNSA(P) Wednesday Spring Series race 5

What a change from the glorious Easter weekend, temperatures down to 12 degrees and a looming black cloud that looked rain filled. But at least there was breeze. With the wind due south the 'Turn to Starboard' team who were SOOD set a course of a beat against the tide to North Sturbridge followed by a run down to Browndown, a short hitch inshore to Stokes Bay Central and a beat home.

Friendly Friday

This Friday for friendly Friday, a few members of the sailing committee will be down the club, to be able to show anyone who is interested how to rig the club boats. This is a repeat of last week in case anyone had missed out due to the Easter weekend. we will also be happy to give any pointers to people who have recently brought a dinghy or have forgotten over the winter which rope goes where.

Club Duties / Weekend Workparty

There is an opportunity this weekend to get in early with your club duties and help out with the Compound Reorgansiation. With a 0900hrs start there is still plenty of time for an afternoon sail on the rising tide.

Another great way to cover club duty is helping out with the Bar and/or Galley. Not only do you get to meet other members while doing it, you are also easing the load on our hard working Social Committee. If you signed up at renewal and haven’t yet sorted out our duties log in to Dutyman to find out what is available, or get in touch if you need help. If you haven’t signed up already it isn’t too late to do so.

Cruisers at Newport

Hot or what! – Five cruisers, Good Year, Muffin, Saltair, Dream On and Grace managed to get to Newport to enjoy a really warm Easter weekend. Good Year made an early arrival in order to thoroughly clean and polish topsides after winter layup in the compound. The weather and temperatures improved day by day, good enough to up the parasol in the cockpit, as well as sun block.

We enjoyed meals together in local restaurant and pub, and our own BBQ together on an area adjacent the quayside on Saturday afternoon. For regular visitors to Newport, you’ll be pleased to know the showers have had a make over, however, don’t let your imagination stray too much.

It’s good to be afloat for Easter, if the weather is fine, it can a brilliant weekend, and if you are not afloat, you will have missed the opportunity to enjoy it. If it’s not a good weather, you’ve missed nothing. Now looking forward to our next occasion to be away, hope to see you.
