RNSA(P) Dinghy Race Coaching 2

Race coaching in Portsmouth harbour Twelve RNSA sailors took to the water for some race training in RNSA owned Hartley 15s and Fusions from RNSC, Whale Island. The training was led by RC(D) Andy Wood ably assisted by Emma Barry. After a short classroom session, the water based training consisted of tacking and gybing drills followed by magic roundabout (rapid circling around a buoy with boats going in opposite directions) before a couple of short races to finish.

RNSA(P) Wednesday Spring Series race 8

The cool Easterly had been blowing all day at 12 to 15 knots but right on cue as the Wednesday racing fleet gathered at Gilkicker down it went to 5 knots with the Solent to the west looking particularly flat and windless. However at Spithead and the harbour approaches there was a more solid breeze but how best to utilise it.

Are you looking for a new way to get outdoors and active or find something you can enjoy together with the family? If the answer is yes, you can try sailing and boating for free.

Portchester Sailing Club is giving people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get out on the water and discover a new sport with RYA Push the Boat Out for free.

A variety of different dinghies will be available for taster sessions, as well as the opportunity to sail on a yacht or try kayaking.

Plenty of other attractions will also be on offer, as well as teas and refreshments, and an all day BBQ and Bar.

Women on the Water – Thursday 16th May

Following the fantastic success in 2018, Women on the Water sessions return this week. These are an opportunity for Tudor ladies to sail, kayak, row or windsurf in company no experience necessary. Why should the boys and kids have all the fun?

Make some time on Thursday evenings to come and join a group of like minded ladies of all abilities having fun on the water in our beautiful harbour.

Last year we rowed, kayaked, SUP’d, sailed dinghies in all shapes and sizes, ate bacon rolls and cake and most importantly had a great time both on and off the water (often at my expense). There is no planned patrol boat but we can take out Marlin with those that would like to get some more hours on the boat if we want to.

If you are interested please pop down this Thursday at 6pm so that we can all have a well deserved catch up, eat cake and plan what we are going to do this year.

If you can’t make it this week don’t worry the sessions for 2019 are running weekly, drop a line to wow or come to any of the sessions.
