Ebb & Flow

Your club magazine needs your contributions please. Let us know how your summer season is progressing out on the water – whether its sailing, rowing, canoeing, kayaking. Successes, failures, what lessons can you pass on to other club members? Whether racing, cruising or just pottering about on the water, let us know and help generate interest in club activities. Share your sailing experiences and plans with the rest of us. Anything on water-based activities is welcome and we’d also like to hear from cadets and new members as well.

Please send your contributions to Richard Curtis at ebbnflow

Rowing Update

As you may know the rowing section now has another Bursledon Gig, she is called “Olive”, this means we are able to simultaneously put more people afloat. The advantage of this is that we are better able to mix and match the crews, but probably more importantly it creates a more social atmosphere and crews make much more rapid progress with their technique if rowing alongside each other.

For the record, apart from the midweek outings, we have a solid Saturday morning cruise to a local “Oasis” which leaves at 0800hrs and returns approx. 1015Hrs. This is usually followed by a “Novices” or “Tasters” rowing session which is Coxed/Coached by one or more of the experienced rowers.

Recently a group of lady rowers have formed a crew and they now have a regular slot at 1030, this crew are keen to progress and would greatly appreciate if another ladies crew could form up and join them on their Saturday Jaunt. So come on girls join us on Saturday for a small amount of exercise and a great deal of fun, those of you who are interested please try to alert the Rowing Captain at “rowing” so that we can gauge boat and cox numbers. With the two club boats and Freedom available we are capable of putting up to 10 rowers afloat plus coxes so there is now plenty of space.
