Bosun

The Exec Committee would like to express our thanks to Dave Lindsay who recently stepped down as Bosun. He has done an excellent job in coordinating the work of the bosuns committee, keeping all of the club’s equipment maintained and enabling our many events to keep running smoothly.

We’re pleased to say the Myles Semmens has offered to step in as Acting Bosun until the AGM in January – thank you Myles for taking this role at short notice.

Rowing News

As some of you may know the Freedom rowing team regularly row at least one evening every week throughout the year. Over the last few years we have been pleased to view the quite spectacular display of fireworks that can be seen from out in the middle of the harbour, the display takes in Havant, Drayton, Hayling and of course Portsmouth. This year we have alerted our fellow rowers to this view and we are planning on putting all 3 gigs afloat on the evening of the 5th at 1800hrs.

The thought occurred that other club members may be interested in going afloat for this jolly and if you fancied putting a boat afloat to join us we could make it a whole club event.

Indeed if sufficient are keen perhaps the sailing section could put a rib in the water to take a bigger group, obviously this will be weather dependant but if necessary it could be switched to the Wednesday or Thursday as the fireworks seem to cover several days.
