Chris Brunnen Talk, Friday 24th January 7.30pm

A professional photographer in Portsmouth since 1981 and been taking aerial photos for over 30 years. The book guides you around the city not just over that time, but with the archives of Jim Bramble, it takes you back to the early 1950s. My talk includes how i got into photography, my work as a commercial photographer and how the book came about.

I don’t charge for the talk, but I would ask if it OK to sell copies of the book, signed of course, after the presentation.

Games Night hosted by Sharon and Alison, Friday 31st January

Social News

Well it has been a busy year on Social Committee and we have planned many events to try to suit all tastes. We have put on several Friendly Fridays which have been well supported.

Vintage tea party was great success!

Relaunch earlier in the year was very busy with the mountains of food provided. Thanks to everyone for combined efforts.

We have put on Curry nights, quizzes and special food nights and talks to keep everyone entertained and well fed. Thank you to everyone involved without your hard work these events couldn’t go ahead.

There have been various BBQ’s over long hot summer. The Barn Dance was a great success and well organised as ever! Thanks to all involved. (I think some of us could do with dancing lessons and many people were facing the wrong way, me included!).

The Cruiser Recovery was very busy over the two days, thanks again to all involved including the Breakfast crew and lovely lunch ladies. We were very lucky with the weather too.

We have recently had our Christmas Shopping Evening which was well attended. The Hot Turkey rolls went down well. The raffle was successful thanks to prizes donated by stall holders.

Quiz nights with Billy Porter was an amusing evening.

Christmas Carols was well attended, we were all in fine voice! Sausage rolls and mince pies went down well!

Sandra’s Christmas lunch was as delicious as ever. Lin Goodyear provided an excellent raffle, I even won a prize!

31st December New Years Eve disco and American Supper, music by Derek thank you.

We look forward to your support to these social events throughout the coming year.

The Social Committee have been very busy putting on these events and more help is needed to keep these events running. Unfortunately due to family commitments I will no longer be standing as Social Secretary next year but I will remain on Social Committee. Various members are leaving Social Committee after many years hard work and there are now several Spaces to filled. Without a vibrant Social Committee we will be unable to run such events! Please give some thought to joining the Social Committee and we can continue to run such successful events!
