Slip Closure & Cruiser Recovery

26/27th September

Due to the Covid-19 situation, we are recovering the cruisers early this year, over the weekend of 26/27th September.

Recovery will start on the afternoon of Friday 25th and it is hoped that it will be completed on the Saturday but there may still be some boats to recover on the Sunday.

The slip will therefore be closed for all other use from 14:00 on Friday 25th September until the recovery has been completed on the Saturday or Sunday.

Cruiser owners whose boats have not been launched need not and must not attend the cruiser recovery process.

Cruiser owners whose boats are being recovered must read the information that will be sent out early next week.

Stay safe,

Richard Gunn

Waiting for the Tide

Following the piece in Tidal Diamond 752 about labelling kayaks, canoes, paddleboard, etc. (this is the link: https://hmcoastguard.blogspot.com/2020/06/label-your-kit-at-the-coast.html) Hannah Barnes has ordered 30 stickers. The first few are for the WoW ladies, but the remaining ones will be pinned on the noticeboard in the foyer (hopefully this weekend) in a clear pocket for members to help themselves.

I have kept the last paragraph in this section in place throughout the easing of lockdown as you are always welcome to drop me a line. With the increasing uncertainty at the moment it may, unfortunately, be becoming more relevant again rather than less. I thought I’d include a statement from the RYA from earlier today as well this week. They have been working hard to support clubs and members with information and guidance during a time that is particularly challenging to member run clubs like Tudor – on which note a quick thank you to all the committee members and others who have put a lot of work into navigating the tricky waters and making the club facilities as available as possible, whilst still being as safe as possible for club members.

STATEMENT FROM IAN WALKER – RYA DIRECTOR OF RACING – REGARDING CURRENT EVENT ATTENDANCE

“As regulations regarding Covid-19 tighten up again in the UK, it is more important than ever that sailors show consideration to others.
Before attending your club, or any event, please consider the risk profile of yourself and your close family, as well as the risk you may pose to others.
Club and event risk assessments and the protocols that stem from them are more important than ever. I would urge everyone to show understanding and respect for both clubs and their fellow competitors.
The RYA will continue to be inclusive in its approach and anybody choosing not to attend Youth or Junior Events, either as a precautionary measure, or due to illness or self-isolation, will not be negatively impacted in any RYA Squad or Training Group selections.
The RYA team will continue to support club, class and event organising committees with their difficult and nuanced decision making, with the aim being for as many people as possible to enjoy sailing and racing in a safe and Covid secure manner. Thank you”

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world, even though lockdown has been eased things are far from normal. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Stay safe.
