Dinghy Compound
With the cruiser recovery taking place next weekend, would all those with summer only spaces please let the Compound Bosun know when they will be removing their boats.
We have offered improved spaces to a number of owners on the east side. Those affected have been informed individually. Can I remind owners that your trolley must be maintained so that the boat can be moved in case of need. There are several in a poor state of repair with flat tyres. All trolleys should also be clearly marked with your name and the boat type. There are some great examples around the compound but also a great number that are very difficult to identify.
Could I ask the topper owners also to please check their their boats. Some of these are in poor condition and are very difficult to move.
After a difficult summer we anticipate more winter sailing than normal so we must be able to move the smaller boats to gain access.
Finally there are several road trailers, both serviceable and clearly unserviceable at the north end of the compound. If they are yours please advise Pete Burke (compound) and arrange to remove them as soon as possible.
I currently have a waiting list for winter spaces. If anyone who is not planning to sail in the winter would be able to remove their boat to allow others to use the space please let me know, I’m sure someone would be very grateful.

Slip Closure & Cruiser Recovery
26/27th September
Due to the Covid-19 situation, we are recovering the cruisers early this year, over the weekend of 26/27th September.
Recovery will start on the afternoon of Friday 25th and it is hoped that it will be completed on the Saturday but there may still be some boats to recover on the Sunday.
The slip will therefore be closed for all other use from 14:00 on Friday 25th September until the recovery has been completed on the Saturday or Sunday.
Cruiser owners whose boats have not been launched need not and must not attend the cruiser recovery process.
Cruiser owners whose boats are being recovered must read the information that will be sent out early next week.
Stay safe,
Richard Gunn

Anchoring and Mooring with Care
For anyone interested The Green Blue (a joint project between the RYA and British Marine) are hosting a webinar on “Anchoring and Mooring with Care: How to Protect our Boating Environment“. It covers protecting our seagrass beds, something of particular relevance to Langstone Harbour, and is on 28th September at either 2pm or 7pm and lasts 30 minutes. More details can be found at: https://thegreenblue.org.uk/the-green-blue-to-host-seagrass-webinar/.
Lost and Found
A pair of sunglasses have been found in the compound, if they might be yours let me know and I will pass your contact details on.
As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world, even though lockdown has been eased things are far from normal. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.
Stay safe.
