Bar and Bingo

A summary of the changes:

  • Installation of the NHS track and trace QR codes, as detailed in a previous email.
  • Wearing of masks now compulsory for anyone volunteering behind the bar.
  • All drinks and snacks must be ordered via the webapp, and will be delivered to the table.
  • Masks must be worn by anyone inside the clubhouse, except while seated.

These changes will be well detailed around the club.

I also have some more bar refresher sessions running this coming Sunday morning – please sign up via the bar/galley section of DutyMan.

I am in the process of planning more events, but to start with, we will be running a Bingo game (or two), this coming Sunday (4th). This is a free event, but “tickets” are able to be booked via Webcollect system.

The bar opening hours will now follow the club racing – being open every friday evening for a games type evening, and then either the Saturday or Sunday after dinghy racing. It can also be opened by Rowers, WOW, etc, provided they have a suitably trained volunteer to do so (must have attended a refresher).

Autumn Fishing

Most spot in the Eastern Solent are producing smoothound, dog fish and bass, There are small bream everywhere they rob the bait you intend for other fish but with a bit of persistence you may be lucky to get taker sized fish. In the deeper water out towards Dean tail there are sizeable ray and skate and cod and whiting should be showing soon.

The lock down is not all bad it has done wild life in the harbour a big service. The shoals of small fish in are more that I have seen in years. Last week, while fishing from my mooring, I caught smoothound and bass, returned to the water. Also the crab life in the harbour this year is up on last year. I put this increase of wild life down to the reduced noise and oil from boat traffic.

Tight lines.

Waiting for the Tide

As has been noted in a recent Webcollect email, this year’s cruiser recovery has been completed with 26 boats being brought ashore. This has been achieved in spite of the challenges of social distancing and other requirements for keeping people safe. The smooth running of this has been very much down to the effort put in preparing beforehand and communicating with cruiser owners so they know where and when they are needed, and when to keep safely out of the way. The preparation has been significantly more time consuming than usual, so I’m going to highlight, again, the amount of work being put in behind the scenes to keep the club running, and say another big Thank You.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world, even though lockdown has been eased things are far from normal. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Stay safe.

Dear Tudor

Firstly, I would like to apologise for the bar being closed last weekend. This was partly due to my own family commitments, and partly to allow me to think through and implement any changes to the current bar set up, in order to comply with the latest changes.

In Summary, the changes will be as follows:

Installation of the NHS track and trace QR codes, as detailed in a previous email.

Wearing of masks now compulsory for anyone volunteering behind the bar.

All drinks and snacks must be ordered via the webapp, and will be delivered to the table.

Masks must be worn by anyone inside the clubhouse, except while seated.

It can also be opened by Rowers, WOW, etc, provided they have a suitably trained volunteer to do so (must have attended a refresher).

Many Thanks again for your continued support,

Hope to see you soon!
