Waiting for the Tide

Water quality and discharges has been an ongoing topic on the LHB Advisory and Board meetings for a number of years now, and I can’t see it going away any time soon unfortunately. At the moment Southern Water is making it an increasingly hot topic more generally. I thought it worth including the following link on to the LHB website where there are details on how to get notifications of discharges (via email and / or the Beachboy reporting system), as well as how to report pollution incidents:

http://www.langstoneharbour.org.uk/environment-water-quality.php

Another area that is getting to be a hot topic locally is the Acquind Interconnector project, which is aiming to bring power from France ashore at Eastney and then underground to Lovedean. It has been discussed a number times at LHB Advisory meetings, and the route is expected to head up to just north of Tudor and then across to Farlington Marshes. This project will be bypassing the local planning process that LHB is a consultee for. For anyone interested in finding out more the following site is a good starting point:

https://interconnectorportsmouth.co.uk/

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world, even though lockdown has been eased things are far from normal. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Stay safe.
