Barts Bash

This Sunday at 3pm is Barts Bash in memory of Andrew “Bart” Simpson after whom one of our club boats is now named. Last year we had over 30 boats out for Barts Bash. I wonder if we can beat that this year?

The emphasis is on fun and participation by all on a very short simple course near to the club house. So if you have a friend you have been meaning to get out on the water Barts bash is your chance. The event is cadet friendly as we have 3 patrol boats planned and the wind is forecast to be very light indeed. We now have 3 Club boats – 2 fevas and a Quba so if you don’t have access to a suitable boat these might be an option, Maybe an option for parents of cadets, maybe let the kids helm whilst you crew for them?

We don’t have a booking system yet for club boats so I suggest you book a boat by leaving a comment on the event on the website: http://tudorsailing.org.uk/TudorSailing/04_membersecure/Calendar/sailing_display.php?id=123

There is a signup page for Barts Bash at http://www.bartsbash.com/participants-by-venue/6044 You don’t have to sign up… but it’s free and it helps to get in the spirit.

See you at Barts Bash!

Cadet Captain

Sunday 20th September Bar Opening

EDS-UK Charity Meeting

The club has been booked for an meeting for EDS-UK on Tuesday 22nd September. This event is open to club members who may be interested. Details below:

“Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a genetic disorder in which the structure of connective tissue is abnormal due to a gene mutation. This results in abnormally fragile and hyper-extensible tissues throughout the body which can lead to a range of multi-systemic symptoms; the effect on the body is widespread and not limited to one body system. There are different types of this condition with a vast spectrum of symptoms which can lead to physical disability or, in some cases, be life limiting.

Ehlers-Danlos UK assists people suffering from this condition or their carers and make people more aware of this disorder. The meeting on Tuesday, 22 September 2015 starting at 7.30pm is to provide support to those suffering with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or to give information to those who think they might have it. Non-members are welcome to attend one meeting before they are required to join EDS-UK. More information can be found at http://www.ehlers-danlos.org.”
