Deadline for the next issue of Ebb & Flow – Monday, 1 December 2014.
Get into print!
If you’re daydreaming about those long summer days spent out on the water as the temperatures now fall, the nights get long and the rain sweeps in, why not recapture those happy days with an article for Ebb & Flow?
We need your input to make the next Ebb and Flow interesting so please let us know all about your summer sailing adventures and activities. If you are writing an article (and please do), a few photos if you have them help to make it even more interesting (and make it easier to adjust it to fit in the space available).
We can all learn from the nautical experiences of others so let’s hear about your sailing successes and failures – don’t be embarrassed, pseudonyms can be used if you prefer! If you’ve been cruising or racing, why not let us have some information on your tips and or trips, race training ideas, where you’ve been, what you’ve seen, what you’ve eaten when you got there (whether France or Hayling Island). What about writing an article on your favourite type of dinghy or cruiser, practical boating advice or cooking in confined quarters – all contributions gratefully received.
Other ideas for articles: what made you want to get afloat in the first place, what was your first sailing experience; what was your worst (and/or best) sailing experience; what boat would you like to own and why; sailing trivia; most useful piece of kit; book reviews; your favourite nautical film or poem?
Sailing stories, cartoons or photos are all welcome? Don’t be shy, start to write – it’s not that difficult. It’s a bit like sailing in fact – once you’ve pushed off, you’ll soon by underway!
If you have an idea, please get in touch Richard Curtis and send your contributions to him at ebbnflow

XMAS Raffle Volunteers Required
Tessa and Gill have now indicated that they no longer wish to run the Christmas raffle and I’m sure everyone will join me in thanking them for running the raffle over previous years.
So that leaves us needing someone to takeover this role or abandoning the Christmas raffle in its current format.
You may ask why isn’t the social committee doing it? Well this is a busy time for all of us at this time of year with TSC events (Halloween & Christmas parties, Christmas carols, laying up supper, quiz, New Years party, decorating the club for Christmas) and we can’t do everything as we are all volunteers with our own commitments outside of the club as well.
Would you like to volunteer to takeover ? Please let me know asap.
Many thanks

Laying Up Supper : Friday 14th November : 7.30pm
A chance to meet up and chat about this year’s events on and off the water.
Food will be American Supper style where everyone brings food to have and also to share.
A quiz will follow the food, and we hope to see as many people at TSC as possible.

External survey from Loughborough University Student who is looking to design a new or improved item to help with sailing
We have been approached by a student who is working on a project where the end result is to design a new or improved item to help with youth sailing. The survey is about child sailing – specifically Optimists. If you are a parent of a child who currently, or recently, has sailed Oppies, then please complete the survey. The survey is about the parent’s knowledge of their child sailing – no personal data is needed. The survey is in 3 parts – please complete all 3.
Thank you
