Car Parking in Compound

This Friday, 19th September, a new boat ‘Basil’ is being delivered into the compound from a low loader and ‘Blue Dragon’ is being moved from the compound onto a low loader. With this in mind, could all members please refrain from parking in the compound on Friday 19th and be very careful where else they park that day.

Many thanks,

Richard Gunn
Commodore

Bart’s Bash

Tudor is tantalisingly close to having enough entrants for our race to count towards the Guinness World Record attempt. We have 23 dinghies registered to date and need a minimum of 25 to sail on the day for our race to count. Please register now and make sure Tudor is part of the world record.

As a reminder, the Bart’s Bash dinghy race is 11am on Sunday 21st of September sailing from the Tudor start line, with cruisers able to join the ECA race at their start line, also at 11am. The Bart’s Bash dinghy race will be a simple triangular course, will be of less than 30 minutes duration and may be sailed by cadets subject to weather conditions on the day. To meet the Guinness World Record requirements, competitors should be aware we will be taking still and video photography during the event. There will also be a collection for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation. There is no race entry fee but competitors (or their parents) are asked to make a small cash donation.

As the Bart’s Bash race is of short duration, I will be happy to run a 2nd race on the day, subject to demand.

Online registration will be open until end of day Friday on the Bart’s Bash website at http://www.bartsbash.co.uk/club/tudor-sailing-club

You may also sign on at the club on the day in the normal way.

Please support your club.

Deadline for the next issue of Ebb & Flow – Friday, 26 September 2014.

Get into print!

If you are thinking that the weather may mean that your sailing activities are almost over for the summer, why not start telling the rest of us all about them. As usual, we need your input to make the next Ebb and Flow interesting so please let us know all about your summer sailing adventures and activities. If you are writing an article (and please do), a few photos if you have them help to make it even more interesting (and make it easier to adjust it to fit in the space available).

We can all learn from the nautical experiences of others so let’s hear about your sailing successes and failures – don’t be embarrassed, pseudonyms can be used if you prefer! If you’ve been cruising or racing, why not let us have some information on your tips and or trips, race training ideas, where you’ve been, what you’ve seen, what you’ve eaten when you got there (whether France or Hayling Island). What about writing an article on your favourite type of dinghy or cruiser, practical boating advice or cooking in confined quarters – all contributions gratefully received.

Other ideas for articles: what made you want to get afloat in the first place, what was your first sailing experience; what was your worst (and/or best) sailing experience; what boat would you like to own and why; sailing trivia; most useful piece of kit; book reviews; your favourite nautical film or poem?

Sailing stories, cartoons or photos are all welcome? Don’t be shy, start to write – it’s not that difficult. It’s a bit like sailing in fact – once you’ve pushed off, you’ll soon by under way!

If you have an idea, please get in touch and send your contributions to ebbnflow

Boarding Ladders in Workshop

There a few small (non TSC) ladders in the Club workshop, probably saved for you after cruiser launching this year. If one of them is yours please claim it soon (30 days), after that it is destruction and disposal. Space is at a premium in the workshop presently and ongoing works.

  • The Trustees shall be indemnified against risk and expenses out of the Club property.
  • No person shall be elected a trustee or officer of the Club unless:
  • He/she has completed one year of membership.
