Tidal Diamond 374 – Galley Volunteers Urgently Required, Coastal Defence Plans

Tidal Diamond No. 374

Galley 2014/2015 Volunteers Urgently Required

Dear membership,

Following the membership renewals this year I have only two volunteers for covering Sunday galley duties.

That enables me to open the galley for 10 out of the 46 Sundays we normally open over the next 12 months.

This includes not having cover for the lift in and out weekend Sunday duties.

The social committee is responsible for requesting volunteers and allocating galley duties so if there are no more volunteers then unfortunately the galley will be closed on all of the unallocated Sundays.

If you need maintenance duties this year please do not leave it until next January to request them.

We need volunteers urgently now to be able to open the galley properly this year.

If you would like to volunteer for galley duties then please let me know.

We can provide training on request and its really not as complicated as you might think.

It’s a great way to meet other club members and to be more involved.

TSC is supposed to be a self help club, so please volunteer to help.

Thank you to the 2 volunteers we have already, hopefully we will have a few more soon.

Coastal Defence Plans : Evening Speaker
Wednesday 2nd April 8.00pm

The Coastal Defence Partnership Manager, Lyall Cairns, will be providing an information and consultation evening on Wednesday 2nd April.

He will:

  • speak about how they are working as a Coastal Partnership to manage tidal flood & erosion risk,
  • inform members about the need for new flood defences around North Portsea with particular focus on TSC frontage..

There will be an opportunity to have your say, make suggestions and become informed about the plans for the next few years.

They have made a special effort to accommodate this evening for TSC so if you are able to please come along.
