Tidal Diamond 373 – Moorings, Wetside duties

Tidal Diamond No. 373

Moorings

Hello all mooring holders.

May I remind you all that there are some good low tides in March to check your mooring chains and in particular the ground chains, in recent years a number of the mooring breaks have been from the swivel down. It is your responsibility to maintain your mooring chains and keep them in good condition, it might not be just your boat that gets damaged on the way to the wall at Farlington Marshes!!

If you require the use of the Bosuns Tender please ensure you check the Log Book in the club lounge and book it, if you just turn up expecting it to be available then you might be disappointed, those who have booked it have priority.

Wetside duties for 2014-15 season – Dutyman now open

Calling all volunteer race officers and patrol boat drivers / crew – Dutyman is now open and available for you to select duties for the 2014/15 season.

In a break from the approach taken in previous years, we ask you to login to Dutyman, select the option “Volunteer for a duty”, and then volunteer for 5 or more of your preferred events in the duty category you prefer. Please complete your selections by March 31st. If possible, please fill up the early races (April, May), as we will have less time to address these. Remember, the sooner you do this, the more choice there will be of events to volunteer for. During April, we will automatically allocate the remaining open duties to volunteers on our list who have not already volunteered for 5 or more duties. At any time you may request a swap of a duty you cannot attend, using the Dutyman system.

In a few days time, we will email all volunteers on our Dutyman list with a reminder. If you wish to be removed from the list of people eligible for wetside duties, please let the sailing committee know as soon as possible by sending an email to sailing_committee. Similarly if you wish to be added to the list, please send an email to the same address, advising your interest (Race Officer or Patrol Boat) plus whether you require training or not.
