Tidal Diamond No. 243 – Cadets – Free Wetsuits and Waterproofs, Gardening, New Patio Canopy, Social News, Dinghy Section News

Tidal Diamond No. 243 Cadet Members – Free Wetsuits and Waterproofs Over the years there have been a number of child size wet suits & wet weather clothing donated to the club. These items had been stored away and forgotten. Now ‘unearthed’ they are to be offered free to any cadet member or family who would like them. The box of items will be put in the clubhouse on Wednesday 4th (this evening) please come and help yourself. – I’m sure the RNLI could benefit from a small donation if you would like to make one! Tim Stell – Commodore Gardening work party Volunteers are required to cut back the brambles and foliage that has encroached across the club access road. At one point the road has become so narrow cars cannot easily pass. The roadway needs to be cleared back to the original tarmac edge so if anyone would like to put some maintenance time in please contact Dick Clark, Maintenance Officer. – You will need to provide your own shovel, spade and secateurs. Dick Clark – Maintenance Officer – Richard_alex_clark Telephone: 023 9259 6711 New Patio Canopy Please beware that over the next two to three weeks work will be carried out erecting a new aluminium frame polycarbonate canopy over the patio area. This is to replace the old tarpaulin cover supported by scaffold poles that were dismantled last weekend. The work is being carried out by private contractors who have been given access to the clubhouse compound to complete the project. While contractors are on site please do not enter the construction area and take suitable health and safety precautions. Tim Stell – Commodore Social News

Sunday 8th April – Spring Series 1 / Easter Egg Race

Monday 9th April – High Water Cruise
The Langstone High Water Cruise is an ideal opportunity to sail in the company of other club dinghies (and a patrol boat) around the harbour. The cruise will be a relaxed sail and depending on the conditions, we may be able to sail through the North Binness Channel. We will stop en route for a snack so please provision well and if the weather is really good we may stop for an ice cream so bring some money. An anchor is useful though not essential. Meet at the Club, ready to sail, for a briefing at 12:00 hours. Hopefully see you there; the more the merrier.
For more details contact: Steve Jones, Dinghy Captain – dinghies

Friday 13th April – Sunset Series 1 (Night Race)
The first sunset race is likely to finish in partial, if not complete darkness, so please be aware that we have designated this event as a ‘night race’.
This means that certain precautions and safety equipment are MANDITORY for competitors to carry.

• A head torch
• A Whistle (available on request)
• Port & Starboard Glow Sticks (available on request)
• Small buoyancy aid shoulder glow sticks (available on request)

Whistles and glow sticks will be available on the day from the Race Officer, however, we strongly advice all competitors to bring a head torch. These are available at minimal cost from most Supermarkets, camping shops or on the internet.
A quick search of the internet throws up this one for example:
