Cadet Registration Evening
Please note that there will be a registration evening at the club at 7pm this Wednesday for anyone wishing to sign on to the cadets section this year. Our new Cadet Captain, Milly Joseph, will be sharing her plans for the season and will also be reminding parents of the valuable roles that they will be able to play to help the Cadet sessions run smoothly.
If you are unable to make it to this session but would like your child(ren) to join the cadets section, please drop an email to MillyJoseph.
We have apologies from our Welfare Officer, Helen Ducane, who is unable to attend the registration evening. Cadet parents will receive further information from Helen about the Tudor Safeguarding policies and what we all need to be aware of when helping out on any sessions where our cadets are involved.
On the following Wednesday, 26th April, the first cadets session will be held on the water so we look forward to seeing you there. Please ensure that children are prepared for the weather with a wetsuit and a windproof jacket regardless of the forecast or the weather at the time of launching. Once the sun goes down, the temperature drops dramatically and you are asked to understand that our cadet leaders do sometimes prevent children from sailing if they don’t have enough layers. (This is all part of our safeguarding responsibility).
Parents who have done the Tudor PB1 and PB2 training are asked to come equipped to man the patrol boats.
We look forward to another successful cadets season

Dinghy Meeting and Compound Reorganisation
Next Saturday (22nd April) is the start of season dinghy meeting and compound reorganisation. Due to a booking in the clubhouse later in the day, we are doing the dinghy meeting first. This will start at 9am and should only take 20 minutes or so. We will share with you plans for the season and be able to answer questions and discuss (time permitting) any suggestions from the members. This will then role straight into the Compound Reorganisation.
Who should attend?
Any club member with a dinghy, tender, kayak or cruiser should consider lending a hand. We have loads of dinghies and tenders to move around and there is always plenty of pruning, weeding, sweeping and brushing which needs to be done so…’many hands…’ and all that. If everyone mucks in, we get the job done in an hour or so.
With reference to the jobs listed which are not moving dinghies around, please consider bringing down gardening gloves, secateurs, clippers, brushes, rakes etc.
If I can’t attend, is there anything I need to do?
YES! Please make sure that your boat is free to be moved. Is the trolley fit to be moved, tyres pumped up, wheel clamp unlocked etc. If you have chained a kayak to your dinghy trolley, please make sure that it is unlocked for 22nd April.

Compound parking
Members are reminded that cars are not allowed in the dinghy area of the compound. Dinghies will be moving back into this area shortly so please remove and blocks, cradles and trailers. Once the dinghies are back in place there will be very limited room in the tender (south) end until the remaining cruisers have launched therefore please do not park in this area until more room becomes available.

Low Water Cruise
Our first dinghy cruise of the year is taking place this Sunday at 1pm. It is the low water cruise which is being led by Paul Rivington. This is classed as one of our low risk events so is perfect for the whole family and those who may be feeling a bit nervous on the water at the start of the season. This cruise stays within the harbour, taking in parts of the harbour that you might not normally get to when sailing on your own!
Please be at the club, ready to launch your dinghy at 1pm. If you want to bring along some food or spare clothing, there will be two ribs in attendance who will be willing to carry things for you.

Moorings
We have had 4 mooring related incidents this season and we are only a week in. A boat broke free and drifted east with the wind Wednesday. Those on odd numbered moorings (east) should check their boats for damage. There are still a lot of boats in the compound that could add to this list when launched if the owners don’t check their mooring tackle. I understand an inspected shackle can let go but that is rare. The statement below is found on the mooring specification sheet.

Patrol Boat Training
Steve Skinner will be running a Tudor PB2 training session on Friday12th May and a Tudor PB1 session on Friday 19th May. Please note that you can only sign up to do the PB2 training if you have already completed the PB1 training.
In order to maximise the amount of time on the water, please only sign up if you are able to be at the club, ready to go afloat, for 6:30pm. (Later in the year we will be able to push the start time back)
If you would like to take part in this training, please drop me an email stating which training session you are signing up for.
