Hundreds of young sailors set to descend on Farmoor Reservoir for team race tussle

RNSA(P) Wednesday Autumn Series race 8 – Cancelled

An early decision to cancel was taken based on existing conditions at midday together with the forecast. The race organiser noted 37 knots at Stokes Bay at race start time which I am sure no one would have enjoyed. The results have been re-run following a problem with the results programme and an up to date set of results is at the link: http://www.

Tidal Diamond No. 596

Slipway and Compounds

Please be aware that both the slipway and compounds are closed to all members this weekend due to the cruiser recovery, and movement of the tractor and hoist. For those who will be at the club for the recovery weekend safety details will be covered at the Cruiser Recovery Safety Briefing tonight at 2000hrs – please make every effort to attend.

Moorings

If anyone isn’t coming out on the club lift this weekend and is heading elsewhere for the winter (or needs an incentive to join us on the main lift) you may like to know that the contractors are planning to move the barge that has been working on the Eastern Road bridge through the moorings on Monday 16th (the day after the lift). Hopefully most, if not all, the boats will be ashore by this time which will make their task easier, but it is still worth checking thoroughly when winterising your mooring.

Financial Year End

A reminder that our financial year ends on 31st October 2017. Please ensure that all outstanding expense claims and invoices for the 2016/17 financial year are forwarded to me in good time to be paid within the financial year. If you are authorising work to be done by a contractor and the work will be complete but not invoiced before our financial year ends, please provide me with estimated costs so I can accrue into the year end accounts.

Cruiser Owners Beware

The compound is covered in a layer of small and very sharp grit particles. It is worst on the East side of the compound but has been spread by foot traffic, trolley and car tyres over the entire area. It sticks into the sole of shoes and will tear your gel coat or deck paint to bits. It makes a horrible and expensive graunching sound on the boat! So unless you fancy another unplanned job this winter, remember to both wash and wipe your feet before you go on board your boat once it has been recovered. Better still, change your shoes.
